I don't see Emelin staying next year if he is #7. IMHO he is ahead of Diaz right now and should be top 4-5 calibre next year if they give him a chance.

Obviously I would look at the free agent market.

Horrible though? Nope. Markov, Subban, Gorges, and Weber (if he continues) would be a fine Top-4. A little soft, but good.

With a full season of experience behind them, I could see Diaz and Emelin becoming a lot better. Diaz has showed some sparks, at least.

I wouldn't count them out.

I think Desharnais' going back to wing when Gomez comes back. Eller, for his strong 2-way play but lack of production, is the perfect 3rd line center at the moment.

As far as the D is concerned, I'm assuming Weber is going back to the 4th line.

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gionta
Cammalleri - Gomez - Cole
Desharnais - Eller - Kostitsyn
Moen - Nokelainen - Weber / Darche

Markov - Gorges
Spacek - Subban
Gill - Diaz

I'm not sure what the healthy lineup will look like but I do know Diaz is making a strong case for himself. It's going to be hard to pull him out of the lineup if he keeps playing like this.

1- They will never be 100% healthy. Like any other NHL team, tey gonna have at least one or two regular players injured or sick, or wathever, not available for some games.

2- so, don't worry.

Diaz has been quite a revelation in this early season. He is the habs 4th best defenseman after Gorges, Subban and spacek. Emelin couldn't even outplay weber.

gomez-eller-ak46
moen-nokelainen-white
darche

markov-gorges
gill-subban
weber-spacek
emelin-diaz-campoli

i personally don't see anything wrong with keeping all the dmen up, and rotating them in depending on opponent and how they have played recently, and it goes for any of our dman, i couldn't see us benching gorges, but i could see gill-spacek-markov needing a night off, lets get real martin won't bench a Veteran, subban- weber-campoli-emelin-diaz would be more performance based

Sure, and maybe I can make love to Kate Moss tomorrow. In fact, have any of you guys got her number? I'll just call her up out of the blue. She'll dig that.

I'm not sure where you get that from. He's really impressed me. I had serious doubts about him this summer. He's turning out to be quite the find.

Stop with this BS, he hasn't been our best D.

He's had relatively low risk matchups compared to Gorges and Subban, and he made really awful mistakes on the PK that everyone seems to have forgotten. He often loses puck battles and gets pushed off the puck. That +5 is only indicative of softness of his minutes and the concording softness of his linemates's minutes.

Simply put, he'd be on the top pairing and used like a top Dman, and nobody would be able to even remotely call him 'our best Dman since the beginning of the season'. But I guess context means nothing for some people.

The one thing people have to expect is that somewhere along the line, Habs will have to make a choice between Diaz and Weber.

With Weber's trade value on the upswing, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade him by the time next summer comes around.

I agree with Ozymandias here...I can't see room for both Weber and Diaz.

I don't know, because it probably will never happen. But one thing I know for sure: Nokelainen will not be benched. Ever.

This is my lineup:

Cammalleri - Plekanec - Cole
Pacioretty - Eller - Kostitsyn
Moen - Gomez - Gionta
Darche - Nokelainen - White

Markov - Gorges
Campoli - Subban
Spacek - Weber
Gill-Diaz
XXXXX - Emelin

If Gomez starts to really suck hard, then Desharnais can replace him. Otherwise i see no place for him on this team. Eventually people will realize that Desharnais is slower less competitive version of Nathan Gerbe, and Gerbe plays 4th line wing for the Sabres. Desharnais is not as fast as Gomez and is not as good a passer. He's better value than Gomez, but if you got mad dough like the Habs so, who cares about value at this point?

The defense will never be healthy, but if it was, Gill would play every once in a while, and then full time during the playoffs when games get really tight. The defense is really rag-tag even with Markov in there. The most dependable D's are really small. I honestly don't know how to make appropriate pairings with them.

Anyway, this is all fantasy stuff. All i know is this:

Eller is the real deal and should be on the PP playing center rather than Desharnais.

The Nokelainen deal was great, and we now have a real 4th line center who's talented and gritty--exactly what all the best teams have.

Diaz is playing well and should be given more responsibility within his pairing. Gill handles the puck way too much in his own zone. The coaches need to encourage Diaz to do the heavy lifting with the puck, because, as a rookie, he's probably waiting for their (coaches) cue to do so.

When Gomez comes back he needs to be on a short leash. If he doesn't play with the intensity that others are showing, he needs to be benched. I don't think his talent or skill is questionable--it's his willingness to play 60 minutes.

Price is awesome. Patches is the best. Subban kicks butt. Go Habs.
