The Isles were so great last year that they finished with the 4th worst record in the NHL, a full 20 points out of a playoff spot. But yeah, one more defenseman will fully solve that problem
Offensive stats don't tell the whole story.
600 man games lost to injury depleted the islanders last season

Good teams do not use injuries as an excuse. The Pens had the best player in the league and a top 5 player in the league both out 40 or so games and still easily made the playoffs.

no team would be able to lose their best player for a whole season and then also average about 6 other players injured each game

I forgot to add Staal was out at one point too. Injuries are just another excuse bad teams use when they lose. Good teams find a way to win the Penguins are the poster boy for that last year and so far this year.

That's not a fair comparison. Streit wasn't out 40 games, he was out 82. Okposo was out for more then 40 games as well. Your not even close, and that's not even mentioning the revolving door of injured defenseman and dp. When 2 of Pittsburghs top 4 players are out for at least 3/4's of the season, then you'd have a valid point.
The wear on players trying to pick up the slack, for a few top players being out for 3/4's or more of the season, takes it toll.

Malkin and Crosby both missed about 30-40 games at the same time. Mark Letestu was their number 1 center at one point. Comparing the importance on a individual team of Streit and Okposo to two of the top 5 players in the league is stretching it. Okposo is a guy who hasn't even hit 20 goals in a season.
The difference is Pittsburgh is a well run team with a top 5 coach and a great GM. The only thing they accept is winning. Pitt having a great defense that can transition makes a difference. Our D can only dump the puck back to the other teams sticks at the point. We are not well run, we have an AHL coach and an amateur GM and we look for and accept excuses constantly.

We have "Gumdrops the Clown" (Wang) and "Bozo the Clown" (Snow) leading this Circus!!! It is truly unreal how this organization has FALLEN!!! Yet, some fans keep eating "Circus Concessions!!!" and buying in!!!

Again your comparison is off. We weren't comparing the important of an individual team, so i don't know where that came from. We were comparing the importance on each team of the top players they lost and their importance to the team. I'm only explaining how your comparison of the injuries we had on our team are not comparable to the ones penguins had. Again, when 2 of Pittsburghs top 4 players are out for at least 3/4's of the season, then you'd have a valid point.

We are comparing about 1/2 a season vs 3/4. During that 1/2 season Pitt's record was still top 4 in the conference. If losing a 15-18 goal guy is a reason for losing than half the teams in the league have that excuse. Streit hurts but Montreal marched on w/o Markov last year. Good teams continue to win bad teams continue to lose.
Anyway it is all in the past right now. This years team has zero excuses and look just as lost as last year.

When did the last playoff bound team have that many injuries and succeed?
Pittsburgh got 40ish games from Crosby and Malkin each. We got 0 from Streit and 30ish from Okposo.
Pittsburgh also had far superior netminding. Basically, the Islanders injuries hurt them a lot more.
But I guess facts are excuse making. And somehow this is construed as negating the fact Pitts is a superior team right now. But I guess that has to be the argument made otherwise you would have nothing to be right about.
Blah Blah Blah....we are not 8-0....we have nobody worth a damn on our team....blah blah blah.....Really, I have no idea why most of you even bother remaining fans and/or watching anymore.....why waste your time.......geeez.

i cant think of the last time that the team that lead the league in injuries was not also a lottery team, i think in 07 when the flyers were first in the league for man games lost and they finished dead last with only 22 wins and 56 points on the season, the year before that they had 101 points and the season after they had 95 points, stating how many injuries the isles had isnt an excuse its stating a fact

It is a fact it is also a fact that they were a lotto team the 2 previous years before that so instead of maybe finishing 12th they finished 14th. They had a terrible roster last season and we have the same terrible roster this season. What happened to Snow saying playoffs or bust last year why didn't he do that this year?

We lost Rick and gained Rolli, Montoya, Poulin.
We lost Okposo and gained Grabner.
Of course we lost Weight's 4 goals........so I'd say we finished 14th instead of 15th thanks to the injuries.
We would have finished 31st if not for Snow firing Gorton, FWIW, so the coach games lost angle also bears true. (yes, we would have finished behind the NY Americans somehow if our club was monumentally retarded enough to keep Scott Scrotum as coach. Powers from the heavens would resurrect that franchise just to smote us!)

the year that nino was drafted was the only season the isles were ever bottom 5 in the league with out being one of the 5 most injured teams in the league
and this team is alot better then the team was tavare's rookie year
