Was that the lead singer of Hoobastank just now, banging his head behind the bench?

Talking to my Dad about this right now, and it doesn't seem like too bad of an idea, but what would you guys think about removing points from empty net goals?

Yeah, and move over Vancouver, Edmonton is making a run for 1st this year too apparently, haha.

Seriously though, why is Edmonton at #1. Dislike.

It sure wasn' pretty, but it was a W.

Kiprusoff with another great game, and Horak strikes again.

A good night indeed.

I think everyone is missing the big picture here, and its that I seemed to have gained the abilities to predict the future! Flames will make a trade by the time the weekend is done.

Agreed, I may even say they pull a Halloween blockbuster.

I work day shift and watch the games, Calgary loses.
I work night shift and miss the games, Calgary wins.

I'm just glad they're winning!

Horak's ridiculously high hockey sense has me convinced that one-on-one, he's a better prospect than Erixon. Add to that the fact that we got 2 2nd round picks and I love the trade. Things worked out. Flames haven't gotten many breaks recently, but this one is feels good.

I was about to say that I haven't been this impressed with a Flames prospect in a while, then I tried to remember the last time the Flames had a prospect who made the lineup out of camp... Moss I guess.

Phaneuf impressed right off the bat when he made the team out of camp and did it in a top 4 role.

We need a face-off specialist...

Edit: Or for someone to teach our centers how to do faceoffs.

Last I knew Joel Otto was employed by the Hitmen, maybe he deserves the call-up just to work on faceoffs. Although I think a specialist would be better. I also really advocate Stajan playing the wing on a line with Jokinen just because I think their games would mesh well and Stajan could take quite a few faceoffs for us.

Another idea is sit Kostopoulos and play Horak on LW and Stajan at center on the 4th line. then our main week point at center would only be Jokinen as Backlund should be in the 50% range, Morrison and Stajan should be over 52%. While it won't make us the #1 faceoff team it would make us much better on draws

I did like the overall game last night, we've got a rough schedule ahead though. 3 strong teams in Vancouver, Detroit and Buffalo before we can continue dominating the Avs.

I'm especially worried about the back-to-back games against two fast teams in Detroit and Buffalo.

Horak was very good last night. I don't understand why he doesn't get more PT with Iginla and Tanguay, as he has very good all-around game and has a high skill level. Morrison just slow out there and doesn't contribute much in the offensive end.

Kipper was outstanding last night. He bailed the team out on numerous occasions. The Flames were extremely turnover prone last night, especially in the first period and the first 10 minutes of the second. The team looked slow, completely disinterested, and mesmerized by St. Louis' speed. The Flames were extremely lucky to get the win IMO.

Nonetheless, the team is back at .500. Kipper is playing well, which is a good sign.

Sad but true. St Louis was very quick in terms of footspeed and moving the puck. We capitalized on mistakes. Lucky to get the win and hope Calgary's identity isn't slow and lucky all season
