Wowzers
just FYI Russia is a dictatorship now(Putin)... the USSR was communist/socialist

I had to take an Astronomy 101 class once, and it seemed really difficult. Come to find out, as our professor had magically disappeared for a few weeks randomly, the substitute quickly realized we were learning things that would normally be taught in an upper-level Astronomy class. Also, the professor disappeared because he went to Africa in the middle of the semester without telling anyone.

I had a math professor last semester (I call him a "math" professor without specifics because I suck at math and there is no need in naming the actual class... though it wasn't remedial so there is that ) who, with two weeks left in the semester, ended up unable to finish teaching due to an illness. This while I was attempting to teach myself trigonometry, which I blame on his lack of teaching ability. Turns out the professor who took over has taught this same course for 10 years, but never EVER taught trig. Or converting numerals to binary for that matter. To make a long story even longer, I ended up with an undeserved A due to the faculty switch

edit: And Drake, you should have taken astrology 1010. Then you could have simply predicted whatever grade you wanted

Just because I feel like outing this guy, apparently the school thinks highly enough of the professor to stick him in a commercial. Black guy with gray hair.

Let that hair grow out a little, stick him with a bald fat guy and a short, angry man with a bowl cut and we've got a culturally diverse Three Stooges parody.

Yes, my mind instantly went there.

So I have spent my morning/afternoon reading and taking notes over four chapters spanning 165 pages and covering topics from parliamentary democracies to nations and economies in transition to political participation to political leadership. My brain is tired. I think it's break time...

update: I aced the exam. 94%... unless, of course, the professor agrees with my argument that one of my "wrong" answers is indeed correct. And then it's a 96. Considering the question appeared on a quiz that I took a couple of weeks ago and I successfully argued my case then, I would say there is a good chance he gives it to me. However, I'm ok either way (not really... give me my damn points )

Occupy Johnson City underway.

My personal favorite bit:

Quote:
Saturday's protest included some tense moments when protesters saw people across the street carrying what looked like automatic weapons.

They later found out it was a group from ETSU shooting a movie for a project.
Our department head will be so proud.

The typical year for the Preds:
1 JUL - We didn't sign anyone, we're gonna suck, kill Poile. How could we let X, Y, or Z go? (run around like your hair is on fire)
Mid-Aug - Why did Poile sign this reclamation project?(See Goc, Cube, SOB) He'll never do anything for us. We're doomed.
1st game - YAY!!!! WE WON!!! 98-0-0 here we come.
2nd/3rd game - $^@# we lost. We'll never win again. Fire Poile and Trotz and maybe we can salvage the season. It's all the fault of Legwand and Klein.
Around game 10 - How did we win that game? Player X is starting to look good. How are we at a 90+ point pace for the season?
1 Dec - We're gonna miss the playoffs.
1 Jan - We just might make it into the post season.
15 Jan - That injury just cost us our chances.
1 Apr - Why the hell aren't we seeded higher. We can be the 4 seed.
The night we get eliminated - This team sucks. How could we be a one and done (or two and done) team.
Two days later - All of our free agents are going to leave us because we're not committed to winning.
Draft day - Why did Poile take the midget defender when we could have taken X?

Start all over on 1 July.

And his last moments as a Pred were spent in the box.

Also random: My daughter was just watching Pop-up Video when a Carrie Underwood video came on. First time I'd actually ever heard her music. I had no idea how annoying her voice is.

I think he came to the conclusion that he'd had enough of the NHL while sitting in the penalty box at that (current) last game.

I went to Sport Seasons on Sunday and there were more people checking out the Predators clothes than Titans! And I saw more people walking around the mall wearing Predators clothes than Titans!

There was a rack by the door that had Lindback, Geoffrion (and maybe someone else?) third jersey T's (the black and blue ones) on clearance for $11. They also had Locker Titans shirts on the rack on clearance. I bought a Geoffrion one and when I checked out they took another 25% off so I got the shirt for just over $8!!

The same shirts with Weber were still $20 inside the store in the Preds section.

5 out of ESPN's top 11 NHL headlines of the day (located on the right of the main NHL homepage) are players out with concussions. That is unbelievable and scary too.
