The important thing is: why would either the 'Canes or the Habs make a trade at all right now?

Carolina's 8-2-1, and Montreal's 9-3-1. No reasons for movement there.

Synergy. You clearly don't work in the business world, do you?

Stall is a player is in the same category as Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin... that is to say, they garner the most value in the league.

He's cheap, very young, and has insane upside.

I doubt Carolina would pull a Peter Forsberg for Eric Stall deal straight up because of the cap room they save.

Please, try to think before you make a ridiculous trade proposal like that.... please...

I wouldn't do this deal. Carolina would be getting 3 players in exchange for 1, and as we all know, 1 - 3 = -2.

Also, we'd be giving up about 650 pounds worth of players and getting only 200 pounds in return, so we'd be the clear losers. Gainey would at least need to get a couple more players in addition to Staal, or one very large player.

Actually this isn't even in the top 100 of worst trades proposed on HF Boards.

Not that it isn't bad, it's so lopsided in Habs favour it's not even funny but there have been craploads of worse proposals.

Do me a favour-think before you put a proposal up. Staal, Ovechkin, Crosby, Phaneuf, Carter, Richards, all these young guns are off limits period.

This proposal wouldn't work for all the reasons mentioned so far. Another more general one is that both Montreal and Carolina are (or will be) buyers in the trade market.

I also doubt that either team is looking to add core elements at the expense of other core elements. I'm thinking role players or pending FAs for picks and prospects.

If Mike Komisarek would be 20 YO D-Men and playing like he's playing now, this trade would have some chances to occur.

But Montreal would still have to give more than Plekanec as the main forward.

And I don't understand why Carolina would get a 3 stringers, who's OLDER than Cam Ward in such a deal.

Carter and Richards aren't in the same class as the others you mentioned.

If you think that Carter and Richards are on the same level as the above mentioned, then you need to add at least 20 other players, all of which I could name if asked to.

20 players huh? On top of the 4 already there? That's odd, HF seems to have Carter as the #10 prospect in the world.

At this point, I don't know if I'd trade Staal for a package of any three players in the Canadiens organization.

Because we all know HF is the foremost authority on prospect rankings...

Even so, Crosby and Ovechkin are the 1-2 best prospects in the world, and Phaneuf is the best defensive prospect. I think SoCal is saying you would have to "dilute" the list so Carter fits in.
