What Do You All Think Of Erik Christensen?

I personally can't understand why the hell he's on this team

I really couldn't care less. He's a bit player and a place holder. His contract is up at the end of the season. He's not producing, but he's not The problem either. He's the 13th forward. He's in the lineup because Rupp is hurt.

PS: didn't vote, none of the categories fit.

I'd rather undergo a lobotomy than watch him waste a valuable roster spot on this team. Regardless, Tortorella seems to love him for whatever reason, so he's going to be here for the long haul. Ugh.

Given how bad we've been and the fact that we just called up Andre Deveaux, I could deal with Christensen getting a little more minutes right now. He's looked good at times and I would rather he be out there with a prayer of generating offense than Deveaux or even Wolski really.

People love to hate him.

Thats quite a bit of the story right there. He has a quiet, reserved personality, the opposite of many New Yorkers.

His game is frustrating to watch, but no more than Wolski's or Zherdevs. The points just do not come at a rate expected.

I could care less if he's a mute who plays chess in his room by himself on a Friday night. The point is he sucks. He hasn't done **** yet this season and is not worthy of a roster spot at this point nevermind still being given the chance on the top line w/ Gabby!

At least Wolski and Zherdev produce at a relatively solid rate. Christensen is a 25 point forward.

Wolski at least had two assists today. We're 9 games into the season now and I honestly can't name one thing EC has done well. He's been absolutely invisible. He's not involved, he's not getting good shots off, he hasn't recorded a point, he's not versatile in the sense that he doesn't kill penalties and he brings nothing to the power play, and the only thing he's known for is the shootout and he's been denied on both attempts.

I defended EC when he was chosen to stay over Avery but he's done absolutely nothing to this point. At least you can say others have contributed in some form or another. He hasn't.

Because on a team that notoriously has problems producing offense, this guy has the better capabilities of doing that than anyone in Hartford?

Wolski has been engaged in the games he's played from my standpoint, and he finally got involved today in the point production. He made two great plays on the forecheck that resulted in goals being set up. I believe his groin was hurting him, but at this point, he should be on a line with step and gaborik.

My gripe is that EC should be replaced with Zuccarello, but the organization won't do that. We know what we have with EC, and it's not good. We need to find out if Zucc can play on this level, and I think this is what needs to be done. Let Rupp be the 13th guy, or even rotate players into and out of the lineup, like Prust, Feds, and Boyle, to keep them fresh the whole season. They both broke down towards the end, and with their grinding style, sitting between 10-15 games this season could be beneficial in the long run. Something like this would be great.

Dubi-Richards-Cally
Wolski-Stepan-Gaborik
Zuccarello-Anisimov-Hagelin (he should be ready for a 3rd line winger spot)
Combination of Prust/Boyle/Feds/Rupp

This would be my forward combinations as of right now. If Hagelin cannot produce on the 3rd line, or even be effective, you can put Feds there and rotate the others on the 4th line.

he has a NHL contract under a million bucks and is a fine at being a spare/fill in for this yr only. He will be gone next yr or this yr for a late pick.

EC is not killing us he's just the whipping boy. Reality is he doesnt make much of a difference

The question is, who in the organization thought/thinks he of real value?

I don't really care about him and think he's ok as a 13th forward. I don't get all the hate he gets as I don't think he's playing any worse than many others. And none of the other players (MZA, Newbury, Deveaux (in preseason)) have shown that they are a significant upgrade. Only guy that was clearly better in pre-season was Avery, and he has his cap hit and apparently Torts going against him.

What do I think of Christensen?

The fact that he is on this team over MZA, Avery, and Weise is so depressing that I really try not to think about him at all.

The guy can't even score a goal in a shootout, the only thing he's good at. 86 this guy fast he's worthless.

Never in a million years would I think EC would still be on this team after Richards signed. I can't believe he's on his 3rd season here, because he was really supposed to be a stopgap until Richards.

Some people can gush about the talent on this team, but the fact that we have deadweight such as EC and Wolski on the roster means that we are still a team in transition. EC has played mostly on the 4th line, where he doesn't fit at all. That line is obviously a problem as we are shuffling players to and from Hartford to try to find something that works.
