He's kinda old (in relative terms) for a rebuilding team.
Even with how well we've done lately, I'd much rather bring in a buy-low young forward that has tons of potential but for whatever reason didn't work out with their team.
Filatov was a perfect example.
I can see something like Butler and B. Lee going to Phoenix for K. Turris. This makes a lot of sense for both teams as none of these players are playing at the moment and all probably deserve to be playing. This would be the ideal second line center for Ottawa.
Its awesome to hear he went down with the right attitude. Very refreshing after the Nikulin's of the world soured the mouths of GM's like Murray.
Nikulin and moreso Zubov were good soldiers who spent quite a bit of time in Bingo, even when it was becoming clear that big, gritty guys were first and foremost on Murray's mind after the Anaheim loss. The problem wasn't those two guys, it was the other half dozen guys that Ottawa invested heavily in during the 2002-07 drafts who never came over.

Foligno is big and gritty.
DaCosta will **** you up if you call him soft... and really, he doesn't look soft. He looks like he's eventually going to piss a lot of players off with his tenacity.
This is an incredible opportunity for Filatov early in his Ottawa career. If he can slot into Alfie's spot on the 2nd line for a couple of games, contribute and the team not miss a beat, could go a long way for his confidence and the teams confidence in him.
