Is Claude Giroux The Best Player in the NHL

This year, with the top of the stats sheets filled with players who you would never think of as being the best in the league (Kessel, Pominville, Spezza) and the players who you would consider the best not having great seasons (OV, Malkin, Crosby (hurt)) is there a chance Claude Giroux is the best player in the NHL?

I'd like to use this space to point out I have Kessel, Spezza, Pominville, and Giroux on my fantasy team.

That is all.

Giroux is the best player on the team, and the Flyers are often one of the Top 7 or 8 teams in the league. Best player one one of the best teams has to be in the conversation of among the best.

Giroux has more points than Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, And Bobby Orr combined this year. and he outscored all of them combined last year too. Giroux is pushing himself into the greatest player of all time debate everyday.

The real question is whether or not Gretzky will come out of retirement to break Giroux's numbers

Giroux will never be the best as long as The Anton is around.

TSN ranked him 25th overall before the season started.

1.36PPG thus far. If anything prevents his stock from rising considerably, it's defense.

He's a very good player, and even if he had the numbers being the best will always be highly debateable. I think top 15, at the end of the year hopefully he is in the arguement for the top 10 if he has a good year. But idk.

I've said it before; I'll say it again:
I want to have Claude Giroux's babies. I don't know if that makes him the best player in the NHL or not, but there it is there.

Either way, having 68 on his line is going to hurt his chances at any voted-on accolades/awards. It's ironic that the guys who holds the key to Giroux's shot at the Art Ross will be used against him in every debate as long as they are teammates.

I think what he's getting at is that people will credit Giroux's success/production to having Jagr as his RW. But I'm not really sure that's true. Most non-Flyers fans I talk with seem to be really impressed by Giroux, and if anything think Jagr's success this year will be tied directly to him having Giroux as his center.

Is he the best player in the NHL?

No.

You can't use 11 games worth of stats to try and make an argument that he has jumped from ~25th to the best overall. You need to prove it over multiple seasons before you can be considered the best. With that said, if he keeps this up, it's very possible that he makes the jump into the top-10, and going forward, he could jump even higher than that.

Let's just enjoy the ride and enjoy watching G work, and worry about ranking him amongst all other forwards during the offseason (after we're done w/ our cup celebrations / parade).

It's easy to pick out the people who comment without actually watching him play... I'll just keep posting this every time:
