^ Why not call him up and give him actual minutes?

When we get a significant injury in the top 6, I suspect that will happen.

As of right now, he is not as good as our top 6 (Richards, Gaborik, Dubi, Cally, Stepan, Anisimov)

Wolski and EC are different animals. But i'm not the professional hockey coach so I'm not an expert.

How about that guy......

uhhh

I would have brought up Johnny Malkin over Deveaux. Their point totals are about the same though I haven't watched any Whale games so I can't really comment on that. Just makes no sense, we may as well have kept Newbury up.

I would love to call Mitchell up, I personally thought he beat out both of EC and Avery during camp. He looked great.

He brings speed and a touch of skill to the bottom-6.

Yeah, I forgot about Mitchell... I would have called him up over Newbury OR Deveaux. I'm actually amazed Deveaux got the call over him. I don't care how he's been performing in the AHL; he IS a better hockey player. Torts' obsession with looking for the "hot hand" and juggling EVERYTHING until something clicks for a minute or two here and there is irksome, to say the least.

Who? Geez. A couple more losses and they'll just start picking out fans from their seats. Maybe instead of fans winning a leased car during intermissions they can win a roster spot for a game. Oh well. Welcome aboard Mr. Deveaux.

I honestly don't get it. Isn't this guy just a slower, tougher, less-skilled version of Newbury? The last thing we need on this team

I thought he was fine in pre-season. No idea what the issue is here. Especially if Rupp is actually out.

What the hell would MZA do on the 4th line? He'd be more of a waste of space than EC.

Who's to say he'd be on the 4th line? With Torts, MZA would be on the 2nd line 5 minutes into his first game back.

Thinking about it now, I don't mind Zuc staying in CT for an extended period of time getting playing time. I just don't see why Deveaux gets called up instead of Mitchell. Seems like a pretty lateral move to replace Newbury with him.

Why would he be on the 2nd line? There is no real space for him on the 2nd line at all. Unless you are displacing Stepan or Anisimov.

I mean, he's really not an improvement unless it's to replace EC. He's worthless getting spot minutes (which is what he'd get). Let the kid get some playing time down there. You don't call up a scorer when a 4th line checker gets injured.

Mitchell is another one of those amazing AHL/cruddy NHL guys. No reason to call him up over Deveaux for a 4th line gig.

Saw all the pre-season games Deveaux played in. He likes to fight but just not good at it. Pretty much serves no purpose on this team. Let the hobbit (Zuc) tear up the AHL for a while, get his confidence back and bring up Mitchell in the mean time.

I don't see the point in replacing Rupp with Mitchell. We get even softer that way. The only logical choice is Deveaux. With that said, I'd like for the team to get a AHL goon on stand-by.

I'm all for having a tough guy -never should have let Orr go- but this isn't the answer. He's so slow that he can't get in on the forecheck to throw his body around. If he gets into a fight against a heavy weight, then he's going to lose. Youtube his fights and you'll see what I mean.

I don't care if he loses every fight. ****, Rupp is a terrible fighter himself. But we have such a lack of real toughness on the bottom 6 other than Prust and Rupp. Deveaux is the best answer since we have no one else.

Agreed! The Swedish Team "Modo" work hard to get him back, it seems that they try to get agreement with rangers right now.
Tort has chosen his strategy, it is nonsense for Zucca to stay there.

Not sure about all the people here thinking its the end of the world... Deveaux is not replacing an injured Richards or Gaborik, he is taking the 4th line spot of another 4th line player... unless some people want to see Hagelin with 4-5 minutes a night being centred by EC...

If they have plans for Zuccarello, they better tell him soner than later. There are a lot of european team who has noticed Rangers strange disposition of Zucca, and are willing to pay a high salary to get him. In particular, his former team Modo and several other Swedish teams. It is also this Russian team on the pitch. His AHL salary is not nearly enough to compete with the wage offer he will get from these clubs.
So if Rangers do not plan to use him, they better trade him asap for a pick or something,or just lose him for nothing.
I think he is motivated to fight his way back to the NHL, but if he feels he have no chance, then money talks.
Every sweedish newspaper says he is wasting his talent in the minors.

All this said,I realy hope he stays the season and fight his way back.
