The winds have changed IMO. Giroux is now one of the elite players in the NHL - bar none. And that includes Richards (either one) and Kesler IMO.

Giroux for me. He may not be the best at every category between these three but across the board he is the best, most complete player of the bunch. I think he has an offensive dimension the other two are clearly below. JMO.

I like how Giroux is being overrated "due to his hot start." Meanwhile last season he offensively surpassed anything Kesler's ever done, putting up a number Richie has only passed once.

Not to nitpick, but "offensively surpassed anything Kesler's ever done"?

Kesler has three less points last year, and 16 more goals; the year before, he had a season essentially identical to Giroux's last year (Giroux had one more assist).

I love Giroux since junior. He's got some serious talent.

By a whole 1 point.

Kesler also had 3 less points last season, 16 more goals, and won the selke.

It's pretty obvious you are the one who needs to relax and ease off and should refrain from making over the top statements regarding this patented giroux hype.

Like I said before, giroux may be the more talented and skilled player, but saying " His vision is something almost nobody in the league has", is the complete definition of hyperbole and possible idiocy.
But he's right. Giroux does have elite vision, to go along with elite dangling. Add in a ridiculously high compete level, and you have a special player.

I'm not saying any one of these players is better than the other, but it is idiocy to suggest Giroux doesn't have elite vision and it tells me you haven't watched him play enough. That **** is just undeniable. Now, I actually think Roo's defensive prowess is legitimately overrated. He's not on Kesler's or Richards' level.

Also, none of this so-called "hyperbole" has anything to do with a hot start all of us on the Roo bandwagon were already completely expecting. We've been beating this guy's drum since his rookie season. He's just going out there and proving us right.

Hard choice. Need to see more from Giroux, Richards is one of my fave players (and I can admit it now since he's not in Philly!), but I'll take Kesler right now.

Giroux's one of those players that I feel truly jealous are not on my team. He's phenomenal. I like Kesler a lot but I take Giroux over him with zero hesitation. I take them both over Richards.

This is the correct answer. All three are relatively close at this moment, it's just a matter of what you prefer.

I prefer young talented Datsyuk-lite flawless defense over the grinding type. Giroux may not have a Selke nomination, but he is on par with the other two defensively, not as good now, but definitely on par.

I would rank them like this:

Giroux
Kesler
Richards

I seem to remember a Giroux vs Jordan Staal thread a couple summers ago where this was the case for the Giroux backers (myself included). Giroux compares favorably to guys like Datsyuk and Forsberg in a number of respects.

While I love Kesler's game he seems to me like the type of player who might lose some impact if he were to asked to be the #1 center on his team. Not saying he couldn't handle it and handle it well, just that I think he wouldn't be quite the x-factor he is in his current situation. Giroux seems like he has all the tools to be a upper echelon top line center on a good team.

Richards is closer to Mike Fisher than Kesler. His play has dipped. Kesler is the best shutdown centre in the game, and scored 40+ goals. Right now that trumps Giroux, unless you vote for flashiness, which Giroux wins hands down.

That flashiness has the uncanny ability to help the puck end up in opponents' nets. It's not like it's just for show.

That's how I see it. The guy is fairly physical for his size too, and can dig in corners and win battles with the puck with ease. Kesler and Richards do not compare to the offensive skill and offensive potential Giroux has.
