I'd rather see a trade than more line juggling with parts we've already used.

Erixon isn't ready. Too mistake prone--too hesitant--not physical or strong enough yet. I have not been very impressed with him so far.

Newbury is a 4th line type. Rangers are not rolling 4 lines so he's been getting negligible ice time. He's not really the reason we're playing like ****.

Ec is 0 for 2 in the shootouts so far. If anyone he's probably been the most useless Ranger so far this year.

Maybe playing with Woywitka help stabilize him. He's -7 is worse on the team and he was on for the last goal against today. He is somehow a magnet for goal against. Which I hope stops.
This what you get with Eminger--he's not very fast, he doesn't have a whole lot of hockey sense and the more he plays, the more his problems are exposed. He's OK (I suppose) as a fill-in, but to have him play regular minutes in every game is going to come back and haunt the team.

As for Erixon: this is not the best way for him to start his career in North America. Let him go to Hartford and play 20+ minutes a night there. Hopefully, he'll be ready to come back in a month or two.

We need more speed up front. I'm all for giving Hagelin a look.

Disappointed with the way things shook out with Newbury. I liked his play last year, and his first 2 or 3 games this season. Didn't expect him to disappear like that.

So Stralman is the signing
Deveaux is the callup

Wolski - Stepan - Gabby
Dubinsky - Richards - Callahan
Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust
Rupp - Artie - Deveaux
Christ

McD - Girardi
MDZ - Sauer
Stralman - Eminger
Woywitka

That is how its gonna be?

Meh

Would rather see:

Wolski - Stepan - Gabby
Dubinsky - Richards - Callahan
Avery - Artie - MZA
Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust
Rupp

McD - Girardi
MDZ - Sauer
McCabe - Eminger
Woywitka

And stick with it for a while...

Yup! I would love to see the cogwheels moving inside of Torts' head. We can't create any offense? Let's send our, arguably, most creative player down to the Whale and put our borderline NHL player and 13th forward to center the 1st line!

We play without emotion and lack intensity? Well, let's keep the biggest potstirrer in the entire league in the Whale!

Our rookie D-man makes one (pretty bad) mistake, he gets benched for the rest of the game and subsequently sent down to the Whale, and we sign a washed up bust who plays as physical as a cow in the field, and with about the same interest and agility.

****ing hell Torts...

Deveaux impressed me when I went to Hartford for the CT Whale home opener, but this call up makes it clear that Torts doesn't want to mess with his top 12 forwards, which is ludicrous seeing as how the team is performing.

He couldn't work with Newbury and wants a new face on his fourth line which is essentially the line of: "Whose in Torts' doghouse today?"

I know this is going to upset a lot of people, but Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust are the fourth line on any good team, and until we institute a third line with skill the Rangers are going to have trouble consistently finding offense with only 2 lines capable of doing that.

Was at the game yesterday, wanna know why Erixson was demoted? Because he played like he had a piano on his freaking back. Barely moving for those 7 minutes, and at one point when he could have very easily cleared the puck out of the zone, he lethargically skated over to retrieve it and someone from Ottawa moved RIGHT IN, snatched it away and got a breakaway on Henke.

That's why he's been demoted.

Yep, that is a reason why we struggle to score. Torts plays them like a third line. Our third line should be Anisimov and Zuc with Feds, and Avery or Rupp should be with Prust and Boyle as our 4th line.

Its amazing that we continue struggling to score goals, but an offensive player like Zuc still cant crack our top 9.

If we're calling up Avery, call up MZA too and run this.

X-Richards/Stepan-Gabby
Dubi-Richards/Stepan-Callahan
Avery-Anisimov-MZA
Feds-Boyle-Prust

I think the organization did the right thing with demoting Erixon. As Tortorella puts it:

He needs to play, Tortorella said. I think hes going to be a really good player for a long time in this organization but as the games have been going on, especially the last two or three, you can see it that hes a kid. Hes a kid playing a very tough position on a team thats trying to find itself and this is not good for his development. This has worried me when we brought him over to Europe. Were really concerned that we dont want to hurt his development. The circumstance with some of the injuries weve had, weve put him in a situation that will hurt him more than help him. You have to be careful with the short term versus the long term and we just dont want to screw that up. So we feel this is the best thing for him and eventually the best thing for the organization as we move forward.

http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/r...upp_a_concern/

I have no doubt that Erixon will be with the organization for a long time--and will make a real impact down the road.

Stepan needs to get sent down. He's not above it. I would send Stepan down and call up Zuccarello.

Stepan? What has he done wrong? He is not above being sent down but guy has been bounced around like everybody else. He hasn't scored a goal yet but has acquitted himself well. Did nothing to deserve being bumped from Richards/Gaborik wing. Torts needs some continuity here.

Erixon has looked pretty lost out there. There was one play against the Sens where Spezza was rushing in and it literally looked like something from NHL 12, he overpursued and then did this weird thing where it looked like he went for a hipcheck but was facing our own net and put himself way out of position.

He needs more time in the A. Probably shouldn't have started the season with us to begin with, Bell outperformed him in camp by a mile.

Zuc has been in the top 9 multiple times and hasn't done enough to stay there.
