Yeah I don't understand the pairing of JJ and DD together unless it's a PP. They're both offensive minded d-men that need the solid partner to clean up after them when they get too risky and it doesn't pay off.

I felt bad for JJ on that last goal. He played it the way he needed to but Quick left too much light between him and the post.

Did Penner shoot at Quick during the first period or something?

He easily played one of his best games tonight and people are ******** on him, it's interesting.

Kings 1-2-1 when outshooting their opponent.

Kings 5-0-1 when being outshot.

Go "Shot Mentality"!

Don't forget this little gem: Phoenix tied the game just 2:38 after the Kings took the lead.

Do we have a running total for this season yet on goals scored less than 3 minutes after the Kings score?

Shot count has very little to do with winning. I've analyzed this in great detail and I think it's funny how much importance people are giving to shots (in TV broadcasts for example). Analyzing couple of thousands of NHL games reveals the real facts.

And honestly, what. the. ****. with Johnson? The guy's seemingly allergic to Doughty. It's just nuts.
Agree with what you see on the PP. Kopitar and Doughty are the issue. Other players like Richards and Williams need to be the QB and those two need to be on the weak side getting back door looks or setting up for the one-timer. I have never liked Kopitar on the half-wall. He is awful there.

Try arguing this with some people. Like Tonga over at LGK. He'll just tell you how right he is. Even if Jack played a great game like last night, he'll probably tell you how he is the worst defensemen on the team and he's a -3 because he is terrible.

Some people just use it to try and justify opinion.

It will always happen.

I think the 1st PP unit is suffering from "too many cooks in the kitchen."

Amen to that.

That's why I liked seeing Parsey on the 2nd unit.

The guy has one thing on his mind. Shoot the ****ing puck.

So Penner couldn't get it going in one period on the line with Kopitar....time to change up the lines and throw in random players until they find chemistry! Penner needs to play closer to the net, he does not make the best of passes....

I thought other than a couple bad passes, Penner was fine. The haters seem to miss any good play he makes. Like that pass he intercepted. Couple times he took it deep, usd his body, then centered passes. Made some other good plays and backchecked. Wish he would hit more but it wasn't a bad game. Murray switches him around too damn much. Put him on a line and leave him there. Good things will happen.

He isn't paid $4.25 mil for his charming personality or how much weight he's lost.

If he was playing for league minimum, you might be able to overlook 1 point in 8 games so far, but he was brought in to score

True. But it's one thing where like last year he's completely lost and out of shape. He's trying and getting chances. There's also a lot of times lately where he gets himself open and passes dont get to him.

Watching his play lately, I feel bad for the guy. He deserves a couple goals by now.

Don't feel too bad for him - he's made $548,000 so far this season and has exactly 1 point more than you or I do....

As PSP said. Penner is paid to produce offense and right now he has 1 assist in 8 games.

Dustin Penner is heading down the Mark Parrish/Jonathan Cheechoo career path.

Yes exactly. 1 assist in 8 games. Pathetic. Honestly, Lombardi should trade him. He is just not fitting in. Move him out. Dwight King can contribute more than this.

meh i dont agree with trading him, since we dont need the cap space of anything. I'd rather him just be dropped to the 4th line, since we could still use him when other guys get injured

Looked up active worst plus minus among defensemen, if my numbers are wrong maybe somebody can steer me to a good website. It's easy to find the plus leaders but the minus is a bit more difficult. Right now Jack Johnson is the 3rd worst active dman in the NHL with only Eric Brewer (-104) and Pavel Kubina (-99) behind him. It took those 2 guys 912 and 769 games to get there though.

I don't know how positive you can be about Penner's performance last night. While, he neither made any critical mistakes nor scored, he still was non-existent, and he isn't payed to be non-existent. He has the skill, he just needs the initiative and he needs to dig in and skate harder. It's clearly more than just a simple illusion, he quite evidently isn't playing or giving us his best hockey.
