Someone who's not afraid to drop the gloves, but can play hockey.

Moen is one of those, but he needs help. Someone a la Chris Neil for example.

#1 need would be consistency.
#2 need would be health.

I believe this team could do some damage with consistency and health.

Markov really is our biggest need. Right now we are beasts at even strength. PP is decent but with Markov we become best in the league type dangerous on the PP. Also less Cammy on the PK, more Nokelainen. Eller on the PK is nice though.

Obviously we need a "#1 center with size", but so do 24 teams in the league or so. There's really only Malkin, Getzlaf, Staal, Thornton, Kopitar and Spezza. Maybe Lecavalier and Carter, but I don't think either are #1 centers, and in Carters case is big but doesn't really use his size.

Honestly Gomez being off the team and a big center in his place would make this team a contender. I'd also say move Gionta off the team and convert DD to wing in the top 6. You don't even need a particularly offensive center to play with Patches and DD since they will create their own. Maybe a Hanzal type.

Cam-plekanec-Cole

Markov-Emelin
Gorges-Subban

Is my ideal lineup. I like it because you get three lines who can handle being line matched against top pairings and whoever gets the bottom pairing will usually end up on the scoreboard. I'm sure people will moan about inexperience on D and not playing Gill/Spacek but whatever. They aren't going to be here next year and I think that D corps could be our D of the future until Tinordi/Beaulieu/Ellis/etc earn a spot. We can afford to trade one of Diaz or Weber though eventually if we have problems with being "soft". That's why I placed them as the bottom pairing though, easiest assignments and their job is to move the puck quickly into the other zone. Also they make a nice #2 PP unit team, with Markov-Subban being the obvious go to pairing.

Guys that will kick anyone else's ass if they even look at our goalie wrong, and on top of that, 30 goals, 40 assists, 100 points. RIP Belak

Number 1 Centre for sure. With the 7m in space if we had Brad Richards (for instance) this team would be a perennial contender.

one more gritty bottom 6 guy who other teams are actually afraid of
a center to replace Gomez (doesn't have to be a big guy, just someone who might actually be able to help the team)
another top 4 D would be nice (but not necessary, our D has always been more than the sum of it's parts), we've got like 6 good bottom pairing guys but not enough top-end talent on the blue line.

Health. And if we get an opportunity to upgrade on Gomez. Take it. but other than that. Our team is stacked.

Ryan White, Andrei Markov and at the deadline if we think we can do some real damage in the playoffs, either a top line offensive thread or (my choice) a gritty, hard nosed stay at home shut-down defenseman.

I like to put a package together for a #1 center. Once Markov returns that is.

Elite offensive player

(for the record, I do not consider Plekanec, Moen, Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez, Pacioretty, Eller, Desharnais, Kostitsyn, Cole as elite offensive players)

I actually think at least 2 more our team just seems too soft to compete in the playoffs (if we make it there)

I would love to get a guy like RJ Umberger

When Markov is back we won't really badly need a C imo. Plekanec is a good enough 1B and Eller will likely be a solid C. For the time being Gomer/DD can be 3rd line C and we'll have plenty of time to draft another C by the time Gomer's contract expires.
