white is not another moen. he doesn't have the defensive accument travis has and the particular skill of being able to be inserted in the top 6 without looking like a fool. i also think he's a little better at smashing faces than ryan. and even better, he's the only one that can reasonably 'protect' our star players by being in said top 6.

i hope we give him another contract, nothing long term or too expensive but nobody can say he hasn't been money for us since we signed him. plus, if we don't, who's gonna PK like a mother****er for us?

Next year there are a few options: engvist could prove solid (or not) so we may need to replace him. White is in, So is Darche so Moen just might not fit. We also have to consider that were starting to get a little heavy with centres, so one of gomez or eller could be on the third line (hopefully that former ) there goes another spot. I guess it could look something like this:

DD/ufa?-Gomez/Eller-Cole/Gio
Darche-Engvist/Ufa-White

(I assume Gio will follow gomez, he might end up behind cole and AK)

What do you think? I know Palushaj might be in the mix too.
Gomez could be moved in the offseason, and in that case we could resign Moen, and then just move Eller back to center, and have Moen play on the 3rd line, and roll with Pleks, Eller, DD, and Engqvist at center. If Engqvist can't get better in the dot, I see us bringing in a vet who can win faceoffs. I think the makeup of our team up front going forward is 3 scoring lines, and a checking line. Also, count me among the camp that would like to see us bring in a heavyweight who can play some on the 4th line, taking the pressure off of Moen and White. I'd love to steal Thornton from the Bruins.

Cammy-Pleks-Cole
Pacioretty-DD-Kostitsyn
Moen-Eller-Gionta
White-Engqvist/VET-HEAVY

Add a big physical top 4 dman, and suddenly the Habs are a pretty big and tough team.

I know it's sort of off topic but why is it a lot of people don't like Moen? Don't get me wrong I don't want him in a top 6 role... but people act like he's been a major disappointment for us and I can't understand why. He's been asked to play beyond his level and has succeeded a lot of the time. He's been a warrior and one of the few guys out there who will stick up for teammates, who does bring an edge to his game and can sometimes help out when injuries take place.

He's know Lemieux but he's definitely an asset worth having and will no doubt get an NHL contract when his is up.

I don't mind him on the 4th line, hate when he's put in the top 6.

However, White does what he does with more energy and generally pumps the team up.

Travis Moen deserves hella respect for dropping them with Thornton and not getting beat. Seeing Thornton sulking in the penalty box was one of the highlights of the game for me!

This. I'm a bit concerned that his best hockey is coming off a contract year. I wasn't too impressed with him last season and I thought he failed a lot in his zone clearings.

Like him with AK and Eller. Really wish Martin didn't change the lines so much in game. The line is a keeper. Shame we'll likely let AK and Moen walk for nothing.

It was nice to see him face Shawn Thornton last night ! Travis Moen is very important to this team. 1,5M$ is overpaid, but who is not in this team... I have no problem re-sign him with a similar contract
