Upgrade for Colorado's defence in Backman, and some experince and grit for St.Louis. In my opinion Colorado needs a good fighter, so with this trade, Brad May takes the role of Hinote, and might be able to go with a pick instead of losing Sauer. But I think this would make Colorado a very solid team. Trading with someone in your division is usually not done, but it helps all clubs IMO. Cap for all teams would still be intact as well. This is only a propsal, so please dont be an ignorant with your replys if you dont agree.
First one gets a definite no from St.Louis. Backman is off to a pretty good start for the Blues and at 25 years old, he figures into their picture long term.
As for the 2nd trade, value is there IMO, but doesn't make sense for Edmonton. They don't have a need for a player such as Hinote, and Edmonton's defense is already contains a couple younger d-men in Semenov and Bergeron.
