Bryzgalov's Masks

Does he wear both masks the tiger one and the one with the flyer logo or does mix it up and switch masks in different games?

I think he switched to the Tiger mask at a practice before the game against Toronto earlier this week and has worn it since. Not 100% sure. We'll see tonight.

IIRC the Patriotic mask was originally to be for Home and the Tiger for the Road... Or the other way around... But things may have gotten changed with his inconsistent results and to change his luck.

I hate it when goalies come to Philly and put Philly-related crap on their helmets.

IIRC he wore the Tiger one at home against the Jets... I'm not at tonight's game and do not know what he has vs the Canes.

Tonight, it is the Tiger mask. Photo from the team's website:

This is the company that made the "tiger" mask:

He was complaining that back grille hinders his vision a bit, and he was considering painting it white. I wonder if he got adjusted to the grille.

Yea, I recall him saying that the Philly History helmet was for the road, to educate is what he said, and the other for at home, but that he was having trouble seeing and followng the puck through one of them and may have to switch the grill.

Don't remember which was the vision issue, but it was in an article posted on here around the time images were released. I'm not going to bother looking it up, but pretty certain it was a translated article.

Well, the Tiger mask was worn last night with the black cage shield... so maybe it was the other that had to be revised.

That Ilya Bryzgalov switched from white metal bars on the front of his goalie mask to black, perhaps to better see incoming pucks, before Saturday's game against Carolina.

Below is my translation from his interview posted ~ 10/3/2011:

IB: I have got Lokomotiv’s emblem placed on my helmet in order to honor the guys.

Showing the second helmet (tigers): IB: Look at this beauty! I like it the most- incredible job by the artist. I just have one problem with it- white grill does not look good and I do not see well with a black one. So I get to think about it. Most likely I will choose white grill.

Q: Why is “historic” mask for away games?

A: (laughs): For educational purposes. If some kid skips school, he could study history off of my mask.

He must have adjusted to the black grille.

Why doesn't he just wear a grill that's white on the inside and black on the outside?

So he's going to wear a mask he knows he can't see well out of? Or am I reading this wrong?

That sounds wrong but apparently he has been wearing the tiger mask with black grille against the Blue Jackets despite telling people that he is struggling to see through it?!
