not too keen on moving thomas for an expiring contract, want nothing to do with the expiring contract of penner's lazy ass, we have wolski.

look at how that worked out for the kings last year, why make the same mistake.

Agree.
A conditional 7th upgradeable to a 4th IF the guy actually produces and signs a minimal (not minimum but minimal $$) contract year to year.

Otherwise no.

Penner's basically a slightly larger version of Wolski.

Came here to post exactly this. Penner doesn't fit the team identity we're trying to establish at all. Pass.

The only team identity Penner fits is one that's trying to tank for a top 5 pick.

Rangers do not need any more reclamation projects.

What is needed is big and good. Not just big.

Penner sucks.

Get Penner to the playoffs. He won't be so useless.

This I'd probably do, but no real interest in Penner at all.

What's an Ect?

I don't want to earn myself an infraction by mistakenly creating a new thread for an Ect, but I just don't know what they are!!!

(I hope a little good-natured ribbing on the subject of misspellings in thread titles is still allowed. )

We're just going to leave this as a trade proposals thread. Legitimate rumors can still receive their own threads, assuming it's from a legitimate source.

EDIT: This is to include non-specific rumors as well, such as "Player Z is rumored to be available." Those types of things can go in here. Something along the lines of "Team X is rumored to be discussing dealing Player Y to the Rangers" can have a dedicated thread.

To Nashville:

Dubinsky - Anisimov (or thomas or pick or ******)

To Rangers:

Ryan Suter

Lines the rest of THIS season

MZA - Richards - Gaborik

Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan

Avery - Thomas(Anisimov ??) - Fedotenko

Rupp - Boyle - Prust

Girardi - McD

Suter - Sauer

Eminger - MDZ

Once Staal returns:

Staal - Girardi

Suter - Sauer

McD - MDZ (or whoever)

Now that's a decent "D"...

GET'R DONE SLATS

We sign him to an extension as part of the deal, using monies freed up by moving the contracts the other way, GET'ER DONE SLATS....Our defense is showing signs of exhaustion already minus Staal....

Nashville isn't going to let us negoiate with one of their players prior to a trade in the middle of the season.

These aspects have a way of working themselves out all on their own...

No way should Staal get 2st pairing minutes ahead of Suter. Also, our forwards look like garbage. Hagelin on the 2nd line? Yikes. MZA? He deserves a shot but unproven. And the bottom 2 lines are terrible. As shaky as our D has been, our main problem (still and has been for years) has been lack of skill.

If we make any trades I want it for a cheap defenseman or serious offensive upgrade. I would look at Krecji, Eriksson, Bourque, somewhere along those lines. We need offense. When Staal comes back the d will be fine.

I say all prospects are up for grabs here too (in the right deal). Signing Brad and having Hank in his prime is win now mode. I just hope the office realizes this too. If a Kreider or Thomas is the difference between getting a Loui Eriksson or [insert veteran rental], I think you bite the bullet and do it. We're only 2-3 pieces away IMO.

For Suter, I go after him in UFA. No need to mortgage our offense for the year to get him.

When is Staal coming back? There hasn't been a word said about him from the organization in weeks. Our D isnt going to hold up much longer as currently constructed. Rangers need a D upgrade anyways - a 2 way vet.

See, that's the same pickle the Rangers have put themselves in the past decade. Alway's trying to get that "piece or two" and not BUILDING for a LONG PRODUCTIVE WINNING FUTURE....Keep our youth, make our defense top notch and in the next couple of years these guy's like Kreider, Thomas, Hagelin will HOPEFULLY turn into NHL keepers. Think about how the defense and goaltending look over the next 5 years with a signing such as Suter should Staal get healthy...Talk about tough...And what if Staal NEVER returns or fully recovers from this incident??? Worst case scenario, but hey, s*it happens...

This team still doesn't have a chance @ a Cup (on paper) this year or next year as currently constructed considering the makeup of other teams. Need to let our young guns play and develope this year, I know it looks bad on paper, but LET THEM PLAY !!!!

Sheeeeeet, I even forgot Erixon......

Staal - Girardi

Suter - Sauer

McD - Erixon

If Erixon pans out that would be SWEET !!! Lot's of rested, fresh defensemen with no need to play a pairing 20+ min a game....
