Nyquist called up.

Mike Babcock said @GNyquist will be in #RedWings' lineup when they host @mnwild Tuesday. Not sure who he'll replace. @DetroitRedWings
I guess he'll get to see some regular season action. I wonder who will sit?

Wings call up Nyquist, in lineup Tuesday

As per Bill Roose:

Quote:
Mike Babcock said @GNyquist will be in #RedWings' lineup when they host @mnwild Tuesday. Not sure who he'll replace. @DetroitRedWings
This should make a few people happy. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Really happy to see him get some time with the big club. He definitely earned it.

If he shines, I wonder if it will become permanent.

Hooray, now i have a reason to care about tomorrows game.

I look forward to seeing Nyquist out work half of the Wings roster and hopefully he is the beginning of the end for Jiri Hudler.

I'd like to see Nyquist break Joe Malone's record in his first regular season game with the Wings.

I haven't been this excited in a long time, and can't wait to see what the kid can do in a real NHL game. I hope this situation ends up playing similar to the way the Filppula situation played out when he first played on the team. From what I remember, he was initially an injury call up, but played well enough that they decided to keep him on the roster once injured players returned.

I think Nyquist has the hunger to perform and keep a spot in the lineup I expect huge hustle from him in his first game even if it is against those trapping wild

That'd be my guess, we have the bottom 6 more than filled. Huds hasn't been able to hang in the top 6 so it makes sense to give Nyquist a shot on a scoring line. Bringing Nyquist up just to play 7 mins on the 4th line doesn't seem likely, but knowing the Wings they could give him very little ice time early on. I hope I'm wrong though and he's in the top 6.

Nyquist isn't a bottom 6 forward, he needs to be put on the top 2 lines to play or all he's going to do is wow us with his moves, he can produce and should be put in a position to produce.

Filppula- Datsyuk- Cleary
Nyquist-Zetterberg-Franzen
Abdelkader- Helm- Bertuzzi
Holmstrom- Emmerton- Eaves

Look good? I'd like to see Cleary sit until he's fully healthy and have Brunnstrom play with Nyquist and Zetterberg and put Franzen up in Cleary's spot, but that's not happening.

This could be the line that sparks detroit goal scoring drought and very easily could be the line that helps Z get out of this funk...speaking of Z, whats going on w him? I wonder if he has a personal problem that he kept to himself. He is so private and soft spoken at times, the only thing that could be the problem, is a little off ice problem that will be resolved...or he could just need a player like Nyquist

If Nyquist produces points, then he should stay for the year and then do something with Hudler if at all possible.

Coach Mike Babcock said he hadn't decided who Nyquist will play with, but he'll more than likely play on a top-two line with skilled players.

where is this quote from? I am even more excited now

If he plays well I think this also means he has surpassed Tatar as our top forward prospect

I do, too. I'm also wondering if we're going to see some lines we might not like, though. I have to wonder if Babcock is already going to decide that Helm isn't a third line center, and that we'll go back to Z-D-Flip-Helm up the middle.
