It is new york and you cant take a bunch of chances with unproven commodities, you need to go after proven players, that have been there before, and mix it with the youth. Something the yankees have been good at.
Never said that about the players, just management.

Sather and Tortarella live off their past successes and don't seem to have any accountability themselves when things don't go right. I want the opposite of that.

6-1 OTL

Couture with one, Pavelski with two, Doug Murray with the hat trick.

Gaborik scores for us

Your team is struggling because of you inexperience on defense. I like Callahan with Richards. A north-south player who drives the net and shoots. I would put Anismov or Boyle with Gaborik.

Why hasnt Sather acquired a veteran defender already?

I give Torts 2-3 more games before he is fired. (if the team does not improve)

There aren't any available for a reasonable price most likely.....

They have been having talks with Stralman and they have Woywitka and Eminger who are okay 3rd pairing d-men. The only player really playing above his head is MDZ.

I would love to see:

Boyle-Richards-Callahan
Dubinsky-Stepan-Gaborik
Wolski-Anisimov-______
Fedotenko-_______-Prust

Insert whatever players you want to in the open slots.

I feel, and have felt, that Gaborik and Richards will/would not click. They both need the puck to be successful. Its the same reason I feel/felt Nash and Carter will/would not work.

Spread it out and let them play with players who can create space and retrieve pucks. Hell, try Avery on that top-line.

Also, please get rid of Wolski and Christensen.....

I watched Jaws last night. I feel that the final showdown bears strong similarities to this game.

The Rangers (like Chief Brody) are on a sinking ship. One of the main guys we were relying on for this season, Staal, is not in a position to help us (like Quint). Another one of the people we were relying on, Lundqvist, will not be a factor in this confrontation (like Hooper).

Our opponent is bigger, faster, and stronger than we are, so at this point I ask:

Who will be the rifle that shoots the tank that blows up the Shark(s)?

Anisimov becomes so furious about being on the fourth line that he gets a hatty.

Not the Sharks! Pavelski? Marleau? Thornton? Couture? Havlat? Clowe?

Add in their ultimate defense Boyle? Burns? Murray? Vlasic?

I'd be happy with 1 point.

I'm not so sure Gaborik needs the puck to be successful. I'd say he's far better without it, actually.

Oh well LGR!
Biron is a significantly better goatender than Valiquette. Hell, Biron just absolutely stole this team a game -- albeit against a weak opponent, but Biron is probably the most capable "backup" in the league.

Besides, maybe it will force the team to actually play a 60 minute effort...wait...nevermind. That's as likely as pigs sprouting wings and taking to the skies.

How many of those are available this early in the season again?

You'd be wrong. Teams don't fire coaches with .500 records 10 games in, let alone one who JUST got the team built how he wants and with HBO 24/7 coming up.

It bothers me that people refer to 3-3-3 as ".500"

There's six losses in there

The problem is that with points being the determining factor, that's a more accurate description of where the team stands.

Call it stupid if you want, but the Rangers have gotten half of the points available to them. The only problem with this is the NHL's decision to treat shootout wins differently, effectively saying that some points are worth less than others. Yet another justification for the elimination of the shootout.

...or elimination of points which is the route I wanna go. As you can tell by me considering the Rangers to be 3-6, I'm not a believer in getting rewarded for failure. Losing is failure, no matter how you did it.

If we didn't suck in the two shootout losses, we would be 5-3-1 right now. That isn't an honest reflection of how we have been playing, but then again, neither is 3-6 imo.

Just wanted to stop in here and thank you guys for coming in our GDT and having a good sense of humor about it. I try to make it fun, but not insulting to the home team. Can't wait to see MSG on the screen. I've been following her changes this season and the concourse where the boxes used to be is stunning.

With that said, oh boy, Biron has the ability to show up and shut down the Sharks. He worries me when he's on. It is a shame that I don't get to see one of my favorite goalies play though.

Biron's taken Henrik's spot on the GDT now. Here's to a good, healthy game!

I agree completely.

Yes, it's nice to have the extra 3 points, but the team has still lost 6 out of their 9 games; that is NOT a good record for any team.
