Loaded question. My answer depends on how Arniel manages him.
That's fair. You can base your answer on whatever criteria you want. But I see were you are going. If Arniel is going to keep benching him late in games might as well send him back, but if he is going to get a fair shake keep him. Is that about right?

His 9 games are up and the decision will be made soon by the team so what do you think?
Soon, but not necessarily now. He can't play another game without starting his contract, but they can keep him on the roster and in the pressbox as long as they like.
To be clear, Columbus can send him down to Portland any time they want. If he plays 10 games the first year of his ELC kicks in. It doesn't commit him to being in Columbus. The real issue is does Columbus want him to get to RFA 1 year sooner.
I think he's shown he can play in the league. I'm a little surprisd he's played so much better on the wing but that likely only validates the fact that playing center in the world's best league takes a lot.
I hope he stays. I think he can grow and be a contributor.
I think he has shown that he can play in this league when given proper linemates. He should stay, and in my opinion if he is sent back it's an admission by management that they see this season as lost.
Thanks for having this poll. Perhaps somebody inside will see. I say a vote for doesn't matter is a present vote and should not be counted as undecided. As such, the vast majority has voted for a stay. Of course we still don't have the west coast votes tallied.
send him back to PDX...this team is going no where this season..why waist the money? maybe columbus should shore up there defense and save the money for a coaching staff..

I've already posted why Johan should stay for the on ice reasons, here are 3 reasons the team should keep him:
1) He doesn't make that much money playing a top six role on a salary cap team
2) Since he plays two positions he acts as protection in case of trades, or if Carter or Juice are out longer than anticipated
3) The team is going all out to fill the building ( free tix for Nationwide employees and kids). If the sentiment in the Jackets' community wants him here, for whatever reason, it is wise not to rock this already unstable boat

Yep, that is a part of my reasoning to keep him too. The other parts are, there is little pressure on a rookie to be the 'go to guy' on a 2-9-1 team (the pressure is on the veterans) and the experience with NHL players can only help.
Here's the problem - we don't have a crystal ball.
If the team has really turned a corner and is now going to climb out of the cellar and back into the playoff race; if Arniel is going to give him ample time in the top 6 (occasional drops to the 4th line are OK, but should not be the rule); and if the plan is to gradually increase his icetime as the year progresses...then he should stay.
If the axe is expected to fall on Arniel and Howson in short order, if the front office thinks the season is essentially done, and if he is not going to be given ample leash to grow and learn from his mistakes...then he should go back. I don't want him being part of a circus with changing coaches, changing GM's, play-out-the-string mentality, etc.
Because Howson has to believe that the Jackets are going to rebound (if they don't, he won't be here anyways), that is why Johansen will be told tomorrow he is staying. With a loss against Anaheim, I think Howson/Arniel would have been done and Johansen would already be back on the west coast.

Is there any part of this that makes any sense? I didn't realize that it was a waste to develop a player on a team that isn't playoff bound, since you know, like, it's been done numerous times by other teams.
If he is sent back down, thats basically all you need to know about our outlook from our Front Office. That's plainly giving up on this season and a no bigger F U to the fan base. If Johansen is sent back to Junior, I really am not sure I want to watch this "product" put on the ice.
