Quote:
BRIERE OUT: Danny Briere has an upper-body injury and will not be in tonight’s lineup vs. Carolina. He is listed as day-to-day
-NHLFlyers
(We should just have 1 injury thread. Whats important about this is that hes out for tonight's game against the canes)

Before the season started this was one of my main fears. Hopefully a swift recovery.

He missed the skate today. Word is that he should return for the next game, Wednesday.

Edit, Tuesday afternoon update.
Source: The Flyers' official site:
Quote:
#Flyers have recalled (F) Harry Zolnierczyk & Ben Holmstrom and have loaned (D) Matt Walker to the Phantoms, according to GM Paul Holmgren.

Quote:
VOORHEES, N.J. — The more injuries pile up, the more creative accounting the Flyers have to do. On Tuesday morning Ben Holmstrom and Harry Zolnierczyk were on the ice to practice with the Flyers as Matt Read and Danny Briere remain absent.
Matt Walker was not on the ice. While the team has yet to confirm a corresponding roster move, the only way the Flyers can make room for Holmstrom and Zolnierczyk is by either putting a player on long-term injured reserve or demoting Walker to the Adirondack Phantoms.
Walker would not have to be waived because he still has a couple of days of waiver eligibility left from when the team first waived him on Oct. 4.
In his one game with the Flyers this season, Zolnierczyk scored his first NHL goal in a 7-2 win over Ottawa in October. Holmstrom, 24, is the captain of the Phantoms and has four assists through eight games.

Some other things:
Quote:
#Flyers defenseman Matt Walker, apparently sent to AHL, was a minus-2 with no points, 1 hit, 1 shot and 3 blocked shots in 3 games.

Harry Zolnierczyk and Ben Holmstrom are up with the Flyers today... and Matt Walker is not on the ice. Roster moves?

#Flyers seem to have 24 players right now, one over limit. Looks like Pronger is headed to long-term IR.

Also, I really liked the Simmonds-Talbot-Nodl line. First real checking line the Flyers have put together in a long time.

Should have just fired Shelley, not waive him, not trade him, but fire him. Set a new league precident.

NHL maybe, but it happened in MLB but was overturned.
Oakland's owner Charlie Finley tried that to his second baseman in the 1973 World Series -- fired him after making errors.

I'll turn a blind eye to your example seeing as it out ages me by a mere 16 years.

NHL contracts are guaranteed. NFL contracts are not. Dunno about MLB. And "cut" is the word you're looking for, I think.

Briere and Read are not expected to play at Buffalo.
Read will probably miss Thursday vs. New Jersey. Briere is questionable for Thursday.

Finally Walker to the minors. Good news for the flyers. I doubt we see him again this year.
Good to see Z back on the big club

People give Walker a real hard time. He is what he is and personally I think he filled in just fine for a #6.

One of my concerns with Rinaldo has been that he would injure himself with the way he flies around running into people. Hopefully this is just a disease. I'm not exactly his biggest fan but injuries suck.

He played solid last time he played and I think he's earned a call back up. Good for him.
