I dont think he will make it but its just my guess...
Beaulieu is already better than Pysyk, Petrovic and McIlrath.

What make you think that he is better then Petrovic?

Beaulieu is a very good player but WJC have already a lot of PMD in Hamilton Murphy and Murray. If Beaulieu make the team he will be the 7th D.

I don't think Murphy is even a lock. He hasn't been terribly impressive without Akeson and Landeskog. 5 assists in 8 games isn't that great for a guy who's all offense.

He's a asset for Canada Team because he played and win a Memorial cup. It's an experience and a part of intangibles that team like to have when you made your combine and team building. Anyway. It's my opinion and you have your. Will see.

He skates better, better hockey sense and you can use him in every situation.

As someone who has seen every single Murphy game this year, I should say that he has been generally quite good. He has suffered a bit of the typical slow start after returning from the NHL. They all go through that for about a month.

But it's not that he relied on Akeson and Landeskog per se. Any offensive defenceman relies on offensive forwards period to rack up points. Someone has to finish. Kitchener is painfully devoid of offensive talent up front. So on Murphy's patented rushes, no one is going to the net to finish. And on the PP, he has a guy in his face all night as he's the only real threat, so it's an obvious game plan.

He still skates so well that his D is very solid and he is giving opponents fits with his puck carrying. The points will be tougher to come by though given the make-up of the team.

Given his international background and his obvious skill set, I'd have to think he's a virtual lock, but you never know.

I think he posted something to the extent of Habs shopping. Calgary has players available. Montreal talking to Calgary. Followed by: Jaybo

Something like that

Just because Bouwmeester is 28 doesn't mean he can still bring it.

Call me crazy, but there's not a chance I'd want to sacrifice a young player a la Weber just to trade Gomez. No thanks.
You wouldn't be including weber just to get rid of Gomez, JBo >>>>>>>> Gomez 8 days a week. Weber makes the trade even.

How can PG say no?
Calgary on the other hand, I don't quite see them saying yes.

But one can dream

Interesting..
Should we be talking about trading Gomez?

I mean, Gomez being injured, worth the talk? He'd have to play 4-5 games, then maybe.. But i don't believe.

Although, let's say we win till he's back, then we start losing again.. Then.. yeah..

I'd swap Gomer + Weber for Bouwmeester as well.

He was a rock under Martin in Florida and he put up great offensive numbers as well, something about Calgary that seems to neuter the offensive-D men (see: Phaneuf, Dion). I have little doubt he could return to that form here playing with Subban.

Markov-Gorges
Jbo-Subban

Tell me that isn't one of the most formidable Top-4's in the league, those four can eat up 50 minutes of the game.

I think its more With or Without Gomez, we don't really need him anymore, Eller and DD are surpassing expectations for the moment. Gomez kills offensive opportunities more than he makes them, and his contract is another minus. I think this has been the best time since Acquiring him to get rid of Gomez, so yeah it doesn't hurt to speculate, but until Gomez is healthy we won't see much happen barring a miracle.

Me neither. Gomez is pretty much useless and our 4th best centre at this point. JayBo is a top 2 d-man in the NHL and his experience with JM in Fla was an excellent one. No doubt JM knows how to best utilize him and that JayBo is effective in a JM system. Also, did I mention he has a smaller cap hit than Gomez.

Question isn't so much would we do it, it's that Calagry won't.

If Bouwmeester is truly on the market, naturally the Habs would be interested. So would a lot of other teams. I'll wait until the rumor is more than vapor.

Going to be a lot of disappointed Habs fans if this is true. A year ago, maybe, but my sense is at this moment Beaulieu's value to the WJC team is more than borderline. Not top pair, but top six. Time will tell. Looking forward to it.
