Also a twitter account, although I don't think that's new
@OrlandoHockey
or maybe it is, only 14 followers.
Interesting who they follow. They try to throw me off the scent by following a flurry of teams, but what's odd is that the only Canadian juniors teams they follow are the Regina Pats, and the Seattle Thunderbirds.
also the Belfast Giants of the EIHL for some reason. No Melbourne Ice or Thetford Mines Isothermic?
Why do they keep doing this on Lightning gamedays? It just ends up distracting me.
Interesting questions on the deposit form
Quote:
Are you a Orlando Magic Season Ticket Holder? Yes No
Were you an Orlando Solar Bear Season Ticket Holder? Yes No
What is your seating preference? On the Glass Center Ice Blue Line Goal Line Behind the Net
No mention of the Seals, Jackals, or Rollergators? Each of them played in the Orlando Arena.
$1300 for season tickets to an ECHL team where you get what 20 something home games? Yikes. Better be a box with free food and drink every game.
We also know nothing about where those $1300 seats will be located. They may be on centre ice for all we know.
And they need to fix that. It says 36 regular season games. It doesn't mention that they're 36 'home games'.
If this is the bear coming out of hibernation, the world may seem very different from the one it left behind. Never matter though, the bear would win every game.
What's odd is that it only became 'The Bear' after the team folded.

Orlando HC may have thought that following 75 accounts on twitter would throw us (read: me) off, but they're listed in reverse chronological order from when they were added.
They added the ECHL, first, for example, and then the Walleye (the old Storm franchise).
I'm not sure this is a real account though, as they don't follow Bob McKenzie. Real hockey accounts follow McKenzie.

Unless they are on the bench with the players thats too much $$.
Just throwing it out there that there are 2 trademarks that show up in a TESS search for "Solar Bears" that were registered 9/13/2011. One for the name and one for the logo

Albatross, how did you find out a twitter account existed?
Also, are we breaking news? Where are the journalists doing this type of work for us?
I've been following ECHL for the last little while now (for about as long as this thread has been in existence). They tweeted it right after the announcement about the BOG approval.
Oh I didnt know you found the actual logo registered. Sweet Always liked that logo.
EDIT: His bottom hand and stick knob are a bit different as well if we are nitpicking haha.
That was another thing that was altered. I can't remember why they did those changes, other than maybe it was something that bothered them. The knob at the end is more like what you'd find on a goalie stick, but THAT'S nitpicking, as there's no hard or fast rules about stuff like that.
But what they submitted is more like the original.
Another change made from the original to the 98? update was the typeface used to spell 'Orlando'.
They are the perpetual kings of the ice
And their throne is green purple white
And it will never perish
Never, because we are standing behind you
Hey, we want to see the Solar Bears!
Hey, we want to see the Solar Bears!
Because our life would be so empty without the bear.
We love the Solar Bears for life!
We love the Solar Bears for life!*
They are so wild on the perpetual ice
And everyone thinks what everyone knows
So strong the bears and full of energy
The Solar Bears were never like that before
Hey, we want to see the Solar Bears...
*Would 'we love the Solar Bears to death' carry the right connotation? To be fair, I mean 'death' as in actually dying.
edit: Thought of a less culty sounding alternative.
Third verse needs a re-write, but I'm working from a translation of Eisbaren's theme.

Ohrablo said the ownership group plans to meet with NHL franchises about affiliation agreements and plans to announce the team's nickname and other details in about two weeks.
Ohrablo said the group has a name in mind and is working on licensing and copyright issues.
I bet they do
And it disturbs me that their Twitter account followed the Panthers before they followed the Lightning. Yuck.
