Obsut to the Canucks

Hope he gets some icetime. He deserves it.

I guess sopel (and perhaps jovo's?) injuries are at least moderately bad. I take obust has been doing well down on the farm. Boy are the moose going to be in some trouble defensively now

Kinda thought, and hoped it would be Grenier.

I fugured that if the Canucks were going to recall a defenceman at this point, it was either Obsut or Grenier, as both have done well this season. Koltsov leads all d-men on the team in points, but he's better off working on the play in his own end down on the farm.

This does leave a bit of a hole in the Moose "D", but it sounds like Tomas Mojzis might be returning next game. The interesting (scary?) thing is that the oldest defenceman we have on our team now (who's not hurt) is Chris St. Croix (24-years-old), and he's not even a Canucks prospect!

Well if Sopel was out then I'd see them recalling someone with a similar style to fill the role that he played.. if Allen was out they'd probably call up Grenier

Good to see Obsut getting the call. Deserves his shot. Although i agree if Allen was out I am sure Grens would be on his way to LA... for the game tomorrow .

This guy intrigued me when we signed him, he has played well so far this season and I'm glad the Canucks are dedicated to giving ice to guys who earn it.

Not sure how much he'll play with Slegr chomping at the bit.

I agree. Good callup. Has he played a game in the NHL yet? I saw the game on TV earlier and he looked real good.

He played some games for the avs a few years back I believe. I'll check the stats..

edit: yep, 7 games. 4 with St.Louis in 2000-2001 and 3 with Colorado in 2001-2002. +1 with 2 PIM and 6 SOG in those games.

6 shots on goal for 7 games isn't to bad for a d-man. I know one of those 3 games with Colorado was against Vancouver and he did play decently well. I thought it was a good depth pickup when they signed him last year.

I remember that game vs. Colorado also and thought he played well. Wasn't that the game where Bert jumped the boards to beat the hell outta someone then got suspended? Maybe I'm wrong...

I doubt you'll see Obsut dress...Slegr's gonna get some major icetime, now. Obsut will probably be double-injury-insurance.

Crow usually gives guys at least one game if he calls them up. Not always, but I'd say like 90% of the time.

Very interesting about Obsut. I must say I have never been impressed with him before. Good for him though.
