In the NHL defenders will pressure you constantly and if you don't take it to the net in some fashion you don't create any chances.

Its funny watching a guy who can contol the puck that well not realize all he needs to do is start heading towards the net with it every so often. Watch Eberle with the puck in the corner or coming down the wing, a small guy who isn't afraid or understands that heading towards the net creates offense.

Unless Omark changes and he hasn't shown any signs that he will, he will never put up numbers in the NHL and will be back to play perimeter hockey in Europe next season
A man called Peter Forsberg made a career out of his puck control... I dont understand todays NHL hockey, its all about dump and chase... How is that fun to watch even if it does give wins...

Peter Forsberg went hard to the net and took his lumps as much as anyone

Please don't reply back to a post about Omark bringing in one of the all time greats who played the game as good as any Canadian growing up on the prairies did

Great point Nacho...except Omark is not even close to being a Forsberg clone.

Sooo many things wrong with this small statement.

As an equal part hockey fan/Oiler fan one of my fav players to watch on an opposing team was Peter Forsberg. The guy was so strong on the puck, great on the rush, and could stick handle in a phone booth. He played so hard rushing towards the net his feet couldn't handle it. Very much a north american style of player.

Pretty much the exact opposite of the way Omark plays in every way imaginable...except maybe the stick handling.

Dump and chase hockey has its place and can be very fun to watch the battles unfold but... it is just one aspect of the NHL no more or less important than perimeter play, or odd man rushes, or nuetral zone trapping, or special teams. To say dump and chase is all the NHL is about is just wrong. The NHL is the pinnacle of athleticism and strategy for hockey.

This has been evident from the start.

Yeah, lol because when I see Omark the first thing I think about is Forsberg

The only thing similar being the Tres Kroner jersey in some closet.

The Oilers have a pretty good team right now, they are winning and lots of young talent, it's great. Not even having a spot on the team for Omark is a proof of this. The competition for the Oilers first and second lines are extremely strong, also the PP lineups.

I understand if Renney don't want to use Omark on defensive third or fourth lines, I wouldn't do that either even if Omark somewhat has proved he can play defense if he really, really has to. ;-)

Hopefully Omark will get traded and become successful for another NHL team, I just don't want to see him in Europe or KHL yet.

I'm not bitter. ;-)

It's not like Renney dislikes Swedes, he was great to Lundqvist in New York and I get the feeling he has big hopes for Lander and really like his defensive skills and potential. I don't think Lander will be sent down. If Lander feel comfortable with his defensive role for the Oilers, well, that's another question, I honestly don't know but he's good at it. ;-)
I really like this post!

Unfortunately the circumstance of his timing has not been great, if he had been in the lineup for the start of the win streak, he may have an impressive stat line by now.

As a long time Oiler fan, my fear is Omark becomes the next David Vyborny, Ray Whitney, or Miroslav Satan. The kind of player we send away for a low price and become much more valuable on another team - often more valuable than the players we chose to keep.

We'll both be happy if Omark takes advantage of his next opportunity in the lineup.

I met Omark yesterday, he was very nice but pretty quiet.

I didn't say much to him either cause I didn't want to badger the poor guy.

I hope he gets a shot to prove he belongs with the big club. It's to bad for him that he just doesn't fit on the team.

Overall I hope he manages to find a spot and play a big role in our success, but if that can't happen, I know he will be successful where ever he goes.
