I can`t promise that he would reach the mighty #13s numbers, but I`m confident that he could work wery well as a top 6,and great for a offensive 3th line.

Just for the hell of it.

Random speculation.

Trades for Marc Staal.

Acquires one or both of Eric or Jordan Staal because of the marc staal connection at the deadline.

Toronto has hometown heart and soul players.

Staal-Phaneuf is dirty.

Hometown players? They're from Thunder Bay...that's like 17 hours from Toronto.

New york gives up the 3 best pieces .... And takes back a salary dump.

That's absolutely terrible for them.

I think many people are overrating Franson around here. Right now, he is nothing more than good bottom-pairing d-man who can play decent on the PP and has a great accuracy for a shot. Sure he has potential to be #4 or even more down the road, but at this point he hasn't shown much contribution to deserve a top 4 spot on our blueline.

If he indeed does get traded, highly unlikely it will be anything significant. I had be okay with a 2nd round pick.

Rangers aren't going to trade anything of value for a guy to play on our bottom pairing. Leafs and Rangers aren't good trading partners.

Oh so you would trade Stepan or Kreider for Franson? Leafs will be elated.

I believe there was meant to be a "not" in there. Sorry mate, I couldn't resist making a joke over how serious you made wanting Franson sound otherwise.

I truly hope that this was just a failed troll attempt.....

Rangers give up the 3 best pieces (1st/2nd line LW, Org's #1 Prospect, Org's Top-5 Prospect) for an overpaid 3rd liner, a decent bottom-pairing dman, a cap dump, and a 2nd that's not even a 2012 pick.

I am sorry but did I miss something? Bozak an overpaid 3rd liner? He is making 1.5M/yr. He is perfectly playing great for his role on the 3rd line. If anything he is underpaid.

Regardless, that offer is atrocious for Rangers.

Upon further inspection, you're correct. I thought his cap hit was still $3.7M. $1.5M is more in line with what he should be getting. Still, I have no desire to take on a player that is -31 in 128 NHL games. It's not like he's that young, either.

I can't see the Leafs dealing Franson right now. If it is a straight up trade they are probably only getting a pick or a mid level prospect, neither helps the team now.

Makes more sense to me to keep him as injury insurance and re-evaluate at the deadline. I would be shocked if there is a deal available now that wouldn't be available later.

Franson is a RD, which is a big reason he's been unable to fit into our system. We already have Phanouf, Schenn, and Komisarek playing that side. Wilson tried moving him to the left side, but it hasn't really worked out. The fact is that Toronto never needed him. It was an opportunistic trade that allowed us to essentially buy a speedy third liner and a big, young defenseman who can play the PP.

Franson has a good skillset, and he's 6'5. A bit slow, but has top-four upside. He's on an entry-level contract, so there isn't really any reason to trade him for plugs or prospects that are unlikely to make the NHL.

He's not a bit slow, he's REALLY slow

He's never been able to play anything but sheltered minutes without having his defensive deficiencies exposed

He's a guy I can see the Rangers being interested in, but they don't need him or need to give up a lot to acquire him. If the price is right they could take a swing, and if it's not they move on

Honestly, that's not a bad deal in terms of value. However, I'm pretty sure Sather would be lynched if he traded a fan favorite, heart and soul player in Prust for a healthy scratch. Now, before getting defensive, I know Franson is good enough to be in the NHL, and I'm not saying he's a scrub, but that's how it will be perceived by the fanbase.

And the Bruins were so happy they got him that they made every attempt to keep him in Boston?

It was an overpayment by the Bruins and a dumb one. He played no role in their success and was pretty much a non-entity in their cup run.

He wasn't worth what the Leafs got for him. Just because the Bruins were stupid enough to pony up that premium doesn't mean anyone else was.
