Anyone else surprised by this?

With the lack of scoring that we've been displaying all season, I was pretty shocked to see that our PP is ranked 10th in the NHL right now:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm...ewName=summary

However, we are 16th in PPG points with 7, but 27th in the NHL in PP opportunities with 33 and 29th in PP time (46:50). Trying to look on the bright side for once (OMG how dare I!?) this PP has not been too bad statistically, but IMO has not looked to good on the PP either. I feel like we are the only team that can never have enough space near the point to shoot.

The lack of penalties taken by our opponents just adds to the evidence that we are not playing as a competitive team and not giving it our all. I remember Grabner's speed drawing a ton of penalties throughout the 2nd half of last season - that's been nowhere to be found thus far. We certainly have the talent to make it tougher on our opponents, but we really aren't utilizing it.

And our PK isn't to shabby either. Now if we can get our 5 on 5 straightened out and our physicality we're all set.

Give Streit credit here....him coming back helps alot.

Hence why i wanted us to draft Duncan Siemens in this past draft...Strome reminds me a bit of Comrie....and we need D more.

Siemens would have been solid on our top 4 in 2-3 years...c'est la vie

I honestly think Snow & company ****ed up this draft...hopefully im wrong.

Most of our goals have coem from the PP and we are not getting a lot of calls in a percentage based stat 9 games in.

Not really surprising. The Isles' special teams are keeping them in games. With guys like Tavares and Streit clicking, the PP is producing at a respectable clip. And so far the PK has been top five in the league.

The reason the Isles' goals for are so low is they're the worst in the league so far at 5 on 5. They're dead last in the league in goals scored at 5 on 5 (10 goals in 9 games), and dead last in the league in GF/GA at 5 on 5 (.67).

5 on 5 production is the area they're going to have to improve tremendously if they want to move up the standings. Percentage-wise, you can't ask much more from the PP or PK.

It's an interesting stat but it's so early in the season no teams have been given a chance to really separate themselves from the pack and most teams have yet to find their groove. Every team is probably only separated by a goal or two that the rankings could change drastically on any given day.

Not surprised at all by either the PP or PK.

A little surprised that the Bailey line is so flat.
I really thought they would be doing a little better then they are.

I never thought they would be lights out — just better then 0 points...

Comeau and Bailey have no points. Rolston has 2 assists which came off the PP I believe.

That's bad....really bad.

The second line is starting to awaken. They need to stop trying that home-run pass to Grabner every single time. Teams are looking for it. Use it when its a clear opportunity.

The team will be fine. They need to stay healthy and solve their third line issues and they will be OK.
