I'm really scratching my head at this move. And I never question what the Red Wings brass does. But this lineup clearly needs some fresh faces that will bring some energy, and Nyquist would be the best choice right now.

I have to question this. He barely even played... Not to mention some guys need to sit a couple games.

For the little time he had due to all the penalties, I thought he looked good. :/

What was the point of letting him play 12 minutes of NHL hockey before sending him down? This is a bad decision that I can't even think of an explanation for. What kind of message does this send to Nyquist? Sorry, you're going back to the minors so a mediocre tweener can use your ice time. Hopefully, this isn't a very long stay in the AHL.

I have a question for everyone else: Is Nyquist one of the 12 best forwards on the team? If so, then he should play. Again, hopefully I'm overreacting and he'll be back soon. This is just a strange move.

I wonder if Kronwall has a concussion? Maybe Smith is getting the call up.

The Griffins had a break in games and the Wings needed a spark, not sure why that is difficult to figure out.

If he had a great game last night he would've stayed up as well.

So basically... we just used our best prospect... to send a reactionary and redundant message to one of our former best prospects... hmm.

Probably would've been better off allowing Hudler the opportunity to play out of a rut, plenty of players are being granted that opportunity, he should've been no different.

This makes the most sense, really. He didn't really play much last night, so let him play tonight. Call him back for the game tomorrow.

Sounds convoluted, but it makes sense.

That's called bad management.

Even just bringing him up for one game regardless is redundant. Guy in his first NHL game is the spark this team needs?

I figured he'd be slotted into the top six/nine and given an opportunity to build some chemistry.

But hey, Bertuzzi is better in his spot.

Missed this.

Makes more sense in this case, but doubt he will be called up.

Not going to play a rookie 3 games in three nights when two of those games are against NHL clubs(I know AHL does 3 in 3).

If they wanted true energy they would've called up Callahan. he will actually provide energy and hit guys.

Corset is such a floater. Doesn't score, doesn't hit or anything. He's just as soft as hudler, my god.

Gustav Nyquist, who made his NHL debut against Minnesota, was returned to the minors today. Babcock reasoned he'd rather have Nyquist back when things are going well.

Didn't the AHL end that practice, beginning with this season?

They are just bad, so nothing out of the ordinary, but when Flip has a bad game, screw him!

Why does St. James have to make the comparison? Or haul out an observation that pretty much everyone around here has hauled out? She said Flip had a crummy game and he did.

If anyone gets called up it'll probably be Connor.

Eh, I'm just bored with the line changes already. Acquire another top 6 forward and maybe things will change. No more from me on the lines, I'll just watch the games and comment on how the teams looks on the ice. I've lost all interest in the soap opera that is who plays on which line and who is a healthy scratch.

Flip centered a third line with stonehanded wingers.
What did people expect?
It's tough for me to say Flip had his worst game of the season, though. I found it odd she wrote that line. Rarely do you see a Wings reporter say something like that, especially since it's such a hard thing to quantify.
So I think there's a chance that Babcock was critical of Flip off the record.
