You don't pass up the best prospect since Crosby just because there might be a 5% chance that he goes back to the KHL.

Don't get me wrong, the defensemen available are absolutely insane but the forwards... ? Ugh.
Thats fair, I guess, and if you've seen them live that is alot more than I have...

Marcantuoni reminds me of the scouting reports on Daniel Catenacci from last year, although Im not sure he has the all-around game and compete level of Catenacci...

I think as the season clips along the forwards will start to establish and separate themselves from the relative pack.

I've been wanting a defensman in the first round for 5 years now...hopefully this is the year.

I'm full of surprises.

Actually I briefly considered starting a new account here and use the name "Wilch's employer" so I could fire your for a$$.

I would be terrified actually, because I'm currently browsing this forum buzzed. I'd even spill my beer in fear despite the fact that I'm unemployed right now.

Thought the thread could use a bump, as there has been some draft talk going on in the prospects thread.

Curious to see if Galchenyuk keeps dropping, he would certainly be a steal where we pick. Other than that, it's mostly just D that interest me and also Tomas Hertl (6'2, 200lbs, putting up major points in the Czech men's league — has some of the silkiest hands I've seen on a Czech forward in a long time).

Any projected top talents falling because of injury? Something similar to the Couturier situation or even Brett Conolly? (Couturier had mono at the beginning of the season whereas the latter had a serious injury)

Galchenyuk. Had a torn ACL and surgery a couple weeks ago. Possibly out for the season...wonder how far he slips?

How does he compare to Jaskin?

He was a guy I was "hot to trot" on last year.

Hopefully, skates better....

Well, with Jaskin you were hoping he would continue to develop offensively, with Hertl he's already there offensively. This is an accurate description from the thread in the prospects forum:

Quote:
Tomas Hertl is big and strong creative playmaker with soft hands, excellent stick skills, vision, smartness. Smooth skater with speed, agility, balance. Slick with puck in tight, tough to separate off the puck, shields the puck very well.
The skating comment makes him sound like he's a really good skater, he isn't. Better skater than Jaskin but not a speedster or anything; better than Hodgson too.

I haven't had much time to watch prospects this year so I've only seen one game, he looked good in it. Very creative and not afraid of the high-traffic areas. A bit clueless defensively from what I saw (or more likely just never had to play defense due to his high skill level), but as I said — one game.

Adding to Galchenyuk, Morgan Rielly is supposedly out for the season with a torn ACL, I think. Right before he was injured, he was starting to look like a game breaking talent. Probably a risk to take him early in the top 10 but cowen turned out just great after his injury, just took some time.

Apparently the French have his name figured out. Yay. (@ 10sec into it they pronounce it almost exactly right.)

Mattias Janmark-Nylén interests me. He was passed over this summer and we know Gillis has a track record of taking older players. He'll be someone I keep track of for the rest of the season. Might see Gillis give him a shot in a later round like Tommernes.

I haven't seen him play a ton of games but I really don't see what all the fuss is about in Grigorenko.

I would say that Frk is a better hockey player, though a bit rough around the edges. Of course anyone who takes on Frk is going to have their hands full. He seems to really have work ethic and attitude issues in spades.
