This should send a message to the rest of the league that we're serious about keeping our guys, but instead it's jsut causing lots of, "OMG OVERPAID, NOW SUTER AND WEBER ARE GONE!!11"

That's....a lot of coin. Too much, but it's good to have him locked up.

Does that seem like a lot for a goalie. Give me some comparables.

I guess Pekka has more faith in Poile and the organization than Weber does/did.

This deal should have been signed earlier this summer by Weber.

$5M would have looked fantastic.

$7M is CRAZY!

But, glad to have Pekka locked up for the long haul. He better stay healthy! And maybe this gives Suter/Weber incentive.

I defiantly hope so. I think they've been holding back because they thought Poile was afraid of the big contracts, which they clearly deserve.

The guy is going to be around 36 yr old when this contract is complete?

Going forward, I would have liked them to go with Lindback as the #1 and use the Rinne money on a couple decent offensive players.

Anyhow, this is the safe route, so it's a great message to the fans.

The interesting thing is going to be (and I'm in favor of this if it happens) is if we re-sign Suter and trade Weber will we be able to afford the pieces we get in return for him?
