Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today that forward Corey Tropp has been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Tropp (6’0”, 195 lbs., 7/25/89) will join the Sabres on his first career recall. He spent the 2010-11 season in Portland, posting 40 points (10+30) in his first professional season. In 10 games with Rochester this season, Tropp has seven points (4+3), tying for the Americans’ lead in goals.
Tropp was selected by the Sabres in the third round (89th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft
I should have bet on this. No way was it going to be Kassian or Foligno.
i have a feeling tropp is going to grow into one of our patented underdog call ups that never makes it back down to the minors. this kid has all the tools to be an asset in the NHL. he raised his game when he had a shot in the preseason, and has continued to produce at the AHL level. good for him, maybe he can hook ip with adam and ennis at some point and we can have a kid line again.
Great call-up, i always liked Tropp and think he is pretty underrated around here (or at least was until the preseason). I don't think he'll stick around full-time yet but he should be a great bottom-liner who also has a shot at a spot in our top-six for us in the future !
