1 - Gabby; beast mode continues. Really all there is to say.

2 - McD; played strong all night against the big line and did a great job picking his spots offensively. Kid has stepped it up.

3 - Richie; Torn between him and Hank, but it is amazing what a difference this guy makes to our transition game and PP. It's a beautiful thing to watch.

HM - Besides Hank (probably should be top 3 tbh), I thought Boyle and Prust stepped it up which I wanted to call out. Also Stepan and MDZ had a great game.

OVERALL:
Puck movement on the PP (when we can get it in the zone), a fantastic OT period, and the cycle game going (minus parts of the 3rd)? Sign me up.

Means just kind of dopey, dumb, etc. Meathead, if you will. Woywitka has always been that way. Hes definitely not the sharpest tool (you can tell on the ice, too).

Even if they lost in the shootout, they played a very nice game. Defensively sound, offensively pretty good to. Snakebitten, and Hiller was great. Gabby was the best, and every else was good, with the exception of Boyle, who I thought made a lot of boneheaded plays.

Well done boys.

Not too happy with the outcome to be honest. This team should have won it before the shootout. Convincingly, too. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the win, but I don't know how this team failed to score on at least one of those OT chances.

Overall, however, the Rangers played very well. The third period was not fun to watch from a Rangers' perspective, but Hank had his best period in a while. Most of the game, for the Rangers, the breakout was excellent, the forecheck was intense, and they were creating scoring chances in numerous ways. Gaborik was FLYING out there, Dubinsky was effective, Boyle look good, as did Richards, and Stepan + Anisimov are starting to get their game back.

Excellent defensive effort, too. Aside from the third, everyone was smart with their puck management in the defensive zone, and good at defending against the rush. McDonagh, as Joe said, is emerging as a star in this league, Girardi continues to be rock solid, as does Sauer, and Del Zotto is proving his critics wrongs. Eminger and Woywitka had surprisingly nice games as well.

Three stars:

1. Gaborik
2. McDonagh
3. Lundqvist

Good: Most of the game was in the "good" section.
Bad: Probably a dozen legitimate scoring chances were flubbed; this could have easily been a 4-1, 5-1 win.
Redden: Third period, missed chances in overtime, having to win it in the skills competition.

you know what's really fun

Watch McDonagh closely and watch when guys try to take him wide. It's hilarious. Bobby Ryan tried to do it tonight, Taylor Hall tried to do it when they played the Oilers, other guys have tried it...

No one is fast enough and strong enough to blow past him and muscle him out of the way. He stays with them all step for step and just shoves them down if they try to lean into him. It's so great

Wait, what? Not too happy?

Hiller played way over his head, tonight. Even a top goalie should have let in more than one goal with the pressure we put on. Dude got a mix of luck, skill, and just play hockey gods ******** on us tonight.

There is simply no rhyme or reason to be unhappy, bro. We looked great tonight. Of course we should have won before. We should scored 6 or 7 goals in the 2nd and OT alone. It's not like it was a lack of finish, either. We were missing by inches, centimeters, millimeters, -meters... Sometimes it just goes that way.

Hockey is a game of inches. It always has been. You can't be unhappy at all about the outcome tonight.

As they keep gelling and guys like Stepan, Anisimov, Dubinsky etc. continue to find their game, this team will be fun to watch.

It's insane. He's SO ****ing powerful. It's just nuts. He's not even that thick, yet his strength is otherworldly.

I still think my favorite moment was when he caught a breaking Getzlaf in about two strides. Unreal skating ability.
