ANOTHER LOSS?! This team may never win a single game this entire season. Why do they even play the games when we know they are going lose every single time because they are the worst team ever???
I wish they'd just forfeit the season and get 5 first round picks (that's a rule I read in a rulebook.) Then they could get Yakupov and he'd score like 100 goals and then he'd be like 100% in a shootouts but we'd never get to shootouts because he'd be scoring so many goals in the regulation game time.

Looks like you are contributing some real top notch lawyer level analysis, yet again
Enough griping about the shootout. Our absolute inability to play anything remotely resembling defense is the only story of the night. I cannot believe how bad they were.
I'm starting to think Laviolette is nothing more than a smoke and mirror coach. The Islanders, Hurricanes, now here, every team he's ever coached, they've gotten progressively worse and worse with regards to defense. Honestly, what kind of system is this man employing? On top of it, why is he playing the life out of Giroux? 27 minutes tonight, 25 last night, jeez, give the man a break. How about giving some ice time to other forwards that have played decent (Couturier has been very good for the Flyers, yet he only received 11 minutes of ice time tonight - I don't get it). I'm starting to hope that Laviolette actually gets crap canned soon. Watching him coach is like watching a slightly more organized John Stevens coach......
Is it so wrong to have wanted to hear "Did that just go in off his beard?"?
And for the "Chill, guys" brigade, it's not that this team lost; it's that they continue to make the exact same mistakes, and same bad decisions. On non-game days, coaches and players are supposed to identify problems and work to fix them, right? It's like the team has made a pledge to refuse to improve their team play. This is what bothered me in the early part of last season's "At least we're still winning."
Dear Mr. Laviolette: please get out a very big whiteboard and several markers. Use as many arrows - both solid line and dotted - as necessary to devise significantly improved puck movement strategies to break out of their zone effectively.

He is testing my patience as well....he is not exactly a mensa coach. I've been saying since the second half of last season..dude needs to refine his coaching decisions. He just likes to keep trying to shove a square peg in a round hole. He doesn't adapt well and coaches more from the gut...like picking Simmonds for the shootout.
He was accommodated this offseason with a roster that was supposed to be receptive to him and his ways. I think they still are but it's obvious they are having a difficult time of it and Pronger isn't around to bridge the gap although there is enough leadership to do so. Let's see how they respond when Prongs comes back and more importantly in the 2nd half. I pretty much figured the first half they would be slightly above .500 and so far the trend seems to be heading that way. If they for some reason miss the playoffs which would not be good for the development of the team in this transition year then yeah he will need to be canned but still early to write him off but he keeps showing he's not a coach that adapts well. Again this team needs to learn to play better without the puck but the key is puck possession as I've said it..and he doesn't have enough faceoff specialists to at least start off right. Positionally they have been a bit better without the puck but still big gaps between the forwards and D. The D themselves get lax at critical moments...Carle tonight looked like he's in playoff form...
Flyers got a gift goal in the SO. 48 did not keep the puck continuously moving forward .. nor did he, himself
All I have to say in response to this is if players are allowed to use spin-o-ramas where they in most cases, they bring the puck backwards, Briere's goal should be allowed as well.
Do the Flyers sell game programs? I meant to buy one tonight but completely forgot... If they do, I might have to call them and ask if I can come buy one tomorrow

what about the players who employ the sudden stop and then lift the puck over the goal tender(ala kimmo timonen)? they always allow them! why no jagr in the shoot out? the guy has moves for days, and i'm sure that there is a slight intimidation factor knowing that jagr is coming in all alone...
