I don't think a guy like Brownie's given up on TM but I do think someone like DD may have or at the very least not too thrilled with TM's style of coaching.
Maybe, but if DD has given up on a coach 3 years into the league, he can go screw himself, sorry, he is not the next Bobby Orr, not yet, not for a long while, hell right now he's not even the best on his team.
The Kings' bottom lines outshot the top two lines. The defense combined for 8 shots on goal.
That's on goal, how many shots direct towards the goal that were blocked? I would say nearly 20, if not more, if you count the deflections off of skates etc.
Games like these makes me appreciate the long layoffs the Kings have in their schedule. Terry Murray and the Kings can talk about "shot mentality" and "need to improve at even strength" but all that talk is pointless if you fail to execute.
They couldn't even connect with passes tonight. How are they going to expect to do anything when they can't connect with a tape to tape pass?
Blame TM? Look I'm not saying Terry Murray is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but to blame a game like tonight on coaching is just not that bright.
Early on the defensemen were active which is exactly what was needed. As the game went on the players decided to go into sleep mode. You can blame the coach for failing to motivate the players, but don't blame "the system" for tonight's loss.

And that's why shot mentality is such a stupid offensive system. It relies on luck to work. The Kings have to get lucky and have the shots bounce in their favor for it to lead to goals a majority of the time. Luck is unpredictable. Relying on luck is a major reason why the Kings have been a terrible 5-on-5 team with Murray as the head coach, even when the talent level is noticeably better this season.

Sorry, if you think shot mentality relies on luck, you really haven't been around the game long enough.
No nice way to say that to be honest.
Shot mentality is to hockey what pot odds are to poker, it's all about percentages.
Shot mentality is not firing everything on net ffs, it's working to achieve the best percentage shot you can, it's that simple.

It's still unacceptable. As the top six forwards, they have to apply pressure towards the opposing goalie. If shots are not making it on net, then they aren't getting the job done.
Agreed.
I would love to have AM instead of TM especially with a young team... Bring on the critics but AM got results with brutal teams. TM has the best team in almost 20 years and we get the same old... Disappointing as a fan.

Absolutely, never said it was acceptable,
But EDM is the #1 defense in the league for a reason, and it's not their goaltending.
I wouldn't classify that as zero effort, the problem was the Kings couldn't adjust to how EDM was playing, they were lost out there, running into each other.
That right there is a major issue. If a tv analyst can point out that the team never made the adjustment to the Oilers defense and make their defense work, a coach should see this too.Unfortunately our coach has blinders on.
Blaming the coach for tonight's loss is a total cop out
I can't name a player who earned their paycheck tonight, systems and shot mentality aside
But it is the Coaches Responsibility to have them Ready to play.... You have to hold them accountable for that Josh....
I Coach JR College Baseball. If my team came out with an effort like that; After a couple days off and Practice. I would be in the AD's office Explaining why I still have a job.
