Minimalist thread, just win.

Course, Nashville has their own man in a mask...

Klein and Kostitsyn did not skate yesterday during practice and are listed are doubtful for tonight. Each have lower body injuries...

Smith - Fisher - Erat
Wilson - Legwand - Hornqvist
Tootoo - Smithson - Halischuk
Bergfors - Geoffrion - McGrattan

On D, honestly...if Klein is out there really isn't a good option behind Suter - Weber...

You've either got:
Blum - Bouillon
Laakso - Hillen

or

Bouillon - Hillen
Blum - Laakso

In the first set, you've got a pairing that really didn't work well to start the year in Laakso-Hillen. And in the second set you've got a very undersized pairing in Bouillon-Hillen to go against San Jose's bigger forwards...

Pekka's going to need to be sharp, the boys are going to need to stay out of the box, and we're gonna need some timely offense tonight to win this game.

Something tells me we see Weber and Suter playing about 30 minutes tonight, and possibly broken up at times.

thats what I was wondering, if maybe this wouldnt be a time to see how the dynamic duo would do split up... we are gonna be hard pressed to win either way so might as well try some things in case we need them later...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Klein's injury is his left foot

SK... I don't know.

Also, Cooper has them listed as probable, but I guess something changed.

I'd like to refer to a few quotes to describe tonight's game...

"I have a bad feeling about this" - Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Phantom Menace

"I've got a bad feeling about this" - Anakin Skywalker, Attack of the Clones

"I have a bad feeling about this" - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Revenge of the Sith

"I have a very bad feeling about this" - Luke Skywalker, A New Hope

"I've got a bad feeling about this" - Han Solo, A New Hope

"I have a bad feeling about this" - Leia Organa, The Empire Strikes Back

"I have a bad feeling about this" - C-3PO, Return of the Jedi

"I have a really bad feeling about this" - Han Solo, Return of the Jedi

yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Let's hope Pekka gives us an encore!

Id definitely go with the second pairing because we've seen them play together already and Bouillion is always throwing body checks and playing physical and Hillen isnt a tough guy but can hold his own, he threw a pretty hip check the other game. I think Hillen with Cube brings out more energy in him when he sees his D partner throwing checks all the time.

The problem is Laakso is really not ready for prime time, so how do you hide him in the line-up? But that is an issue that the Preds will have to deal with in due course.

The Bouillon-Hillen pairing worked quite well for the few games they were paired together. I think they worked better than Bouillon-Klein. Klein is not very solid defensively and seems to drag down his D partner. Blum is playing better after being paired with Hillen and Bouillon is not playing better after being paired with Klein. Klein misses so many defensive assignments that he and his D partners end up scrambling to recover, time after time.

But tonight I think you will see Blum paired with Bouillon and Hillen/Laakso will get less than 10 minutes, which in the long run won't help Laakso or the team. I think Hillen can still perform getting so few minutes, but a younger guy like Laakso, who is already lacking confidence, this could prove to be a bit disastrous.

Coming in peace to let you guys know what our lineup is supposed to be tonight, in case you're curious:

Pavelski-Thornton-Couture
Clowe-Marleau-Mitchell
McGinn-Handzus-Havlat
Winchester-Desjardins-A. Murray

D. Murray-Boyle
Vlasic-Burns
Vandermeer-Braun/White-Demers

Niemi
Greiss

Those were just the lines at morning skate though, are way different than what we usually run with--more similar to the later part of the Pittsburgh game--but according to our beat writer, those are the probables. As for the D, the last pairing is often a tossup, but Vandermeer-Braun did very well in the PIT game as opposed to the struggles of White-Demers, so my guess is the former will play.

A lot of question marks, but the above lineup is what likely will be iced.

Should be a great game as always!

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a Weber-Blum, Suter-Boullion, or Suter-Blum, Weber-Boullion pairing. Atleast until Klein comes back.

Wow the loss of Klein has a bigger impact than I thought it would.

I would start Weber/Suter together to start the game to set the tone, but break them up midway through the game .

Preds vs Guppies tonight!

Klein and SK with maintenance days yesterday. They have not been listed as out or in. People need to chill with this stuff sometimes. Klein took one off the foot the other night and came back. He is rarely ever out due to injury. SK is still nursing the same injury from him going into the boards last week. Do we really have that bad a memory when it comes to this stuff? They took a day off to rest. It's common practice in the NHL when someone gets banged up a little bit. Until I see that they're out, I'm presuming they're in.

Random? SK injured his lower body (leg muscle) when his leg got caught under him as he went into the boards at the end of the first period against Tampa. Klein took an Adrian Aucoin slapshot from about 10' off his ankle late in the third period last game.

They are just part of the game...

while your point is well taken, someone did report that they were listed as "doubtful" and I would say more often than not when that is said they dont play.

the shot klein took off the foot was brutal... im sure he played until he took his skate off, then "boom"

if SK is just nursing an old hurt then he might be good to go

Yeah, SLake said they were doubtful and when you read the paper, Cooper stated probable. Big difference to me. I think I'll take the word of the guy that travels with the team as opposed to a moderator on the boards. And if a mod is going to put info out there like that, a link might be nice too. It gets everyone in a tizzy for no reason.

Slake is usually well informed so I just wonder whose info is most recent.

But really, its not a "tizzy" it just gives us something to talk about waiting for the lateass start to the game, so no biggie, IMO

I'll settle it for you. All my wagering "tip sheets" have SK and KK as probable. My "investment guys" always seem to know everything .

I would also point out that while Cooper may be traveling with the team, he's also the guy who thought we were saying "we want Crosby"
