Cal Clutterbuck vs. Maxime Lapierre/Darren Gibbs

Video evidence as to why linesman are told that they should never break up a fight on their own

One of my biggest pet peeves in the NHL is when linesmen break up fights by themselves and just hold one guy. Its basically here take a free shot, I'm glad this idiot got slugged maybe he'll learn his lesson

Another classic example of an idiot linesmen getting slugged

He actually took that hit like a champ. Getting punched square in the face is enough to knock most guys out of commission for a moment.

Agreed. Wonder how many he's taken over the years.

any word if clutterbuck could be suspended?
I know it was accidental, but he still hit a linesman in the face.
p.s. IMO I dont think he should be

Per Mike Russo, he will not face any hearing or suspension because it was deemed accidental.

That was incredibly frustrating to watch live. I suppose he felt Brule needed some help.

The linesman here learned why you shouldn't break up a fight alone. Good on him for taking that punch like he did. Hopefully he waits next time to step in.
