Westgarth should have gone in for Clifford, not Lewis.

Idiotic.
I'm going to pull this one straight from the Terry Murray Black Book of Clichés to Use When Benching a Player Who is Not a Coach's Pet:
Quote:
"I thought the game got a little heavy for him there at times. I’m just seeing an NHL level of play, right now, starting to expose a young player. The games are big, they’re intense, they’re close. Everything really matters. Every play is critical, those 1-on-1s, those 3-on-3 — whether it’s in your D-zone or the offensive zone — there are situations right now that are happening a little too fast."
"[T]here’s just some other stuff that is happening that is not what I want to see right now. So, it’s just coming too fast for him, maybe."
"I think the view of it is the same, that he got exposed a little bit in some of those important situations. So we’ll just back away, with this game, and give him a little bit of a break."
Ill be studying but i'll have the game on a very low volume. If Miller raises his voice pitch ill turn towards the screen. If not I'll assume the worst.
to be fair, if anything was going to get the team going it was going to be scratching an energy guy for a goon
This team needed the Westgarth Clap Of Thunder to help them shut down Malkin! His 4 minutes of ice time will be the best 4 minutes in the history of hockey.
I'm not defending TM for benching Lewis at all but I'm thinking it had more to do with TM wanting to see Richie at center.
Lewis could have played RW but TM obviously thinks otherwise.
sweet, i guess Richardson getting exposed massively defensively against SJ in the playoffs with a defensively reliable Simmonds on 1 wing is enough of a reason to throw him against Malkin with the 2 worst defensive forwards on the team on his wing
Although he wasnt scoring, at least Lewis could make sure that 4th line wasn't scored against if caught out
I came in here with a great attitude. "I'm going to put that last game behind me and just watch this one, I'm sure it'll be great"... But come on, Lewis...? I can think of 11 people who are more deserving of being benched.
I am a supporter of Penner and think he's trying hard and very close to producing, but Id rather see Penner sit then Luis. Terry is truly insane, we need to get his brother to cuss some sense into him.
Lewis has brought hustle and energy. He's not been fantastic but has done nothing worthy of being benched. How about sitting one of Clifford, Penner, Wiliams (for his abysmal play the past 6 games), etc
It doesn't matter who the Penguins have out of their lineup, it seems like they can win regardless. That is the difference between having a great coach and having the coach we have.
