Where's that leave Ennis

I agree with you here,

I think Ehrhoff looked off his game because he had to babysit the kid all night. MAG made some really bad decisions out there that led to Ehrhoff playing a more stay at home style...which is not his thing no matter how much Lindy seems to want it to be at times. I'd rather see Ehrhoff out there with Weber so that Christian can focus on offense and not have to worry so much about things in his own end.

I really liked our forward lines tonight. The effort level was great and the passing so much more crisp. Adams deserves a lot of credit for our faceoff improvement, losing draws was my biggest concern to start the season...Now we just need a shooting specialist...

Myers and Sekera looked elite out there...Sekera especially who, as Zip and others have been saying, is currently our best D man.

Enroth is slowly making his case for being the third best young goalie in the game behind Schneider and Rask...Bernier? Still, I don't like his rebound control at times...He isn't as refined as Miller obviously, but he is finding a way to win more often than not...and there is something to be said about that.

On a more micro level, the good that I saw in this game was that pretty much all of the Sabres were showing more awareness of the puck. It seemed like each time a Flame was being casual with the puck, there was a Sabre stick slipping in and taking possession.

And Hecht. If the stars and moon were aligned and all forwards were healthy (and not suspended):

VAP
LRS
EHB
GGK
/M

Maybe, it's just me but I was unimpressed with the win. We barely escaped with a 2-1 win against a Calgary team (they are not that good) that was playing back to back. Chances were not being buried (again), the PP did not deliver and frankly we were holding on for dear life at the end. Enroth stood tall.
But maybe we needed a shaky win like that to regain our confidence. A win is a win. But they are going to have to do better to get going.

Just a minor fact. They couldn't put the puck in the net.

Brad Boyes has been a different player since that idiot Ruff rewarded his lousy play by putting him on the power play. Obviously, a good coach would have put him in the press box to build his confidence and break him out of his slump.

Early whistle which wiped out a goal.
Lucky acrobatic save on Roy's wide open net.

More games like this one and it will even itself out.

I think it's silly to criticize them for not finishing last night.

Aside from fighting the puck a bit here and there, I thought they played an extremely sound game overall. They were winning a lot of battles on Calgary's zone, driving to the net and put up a ton of shots. If they played like that every game, they would get 50 wins over the season.

I thought Ehrhoff-Gragnani looked pretty strong last night - I did only catch the 2nd half of the game though

He could have moved a lot closer before passing though. No reason that couldn't have been a layup.

It felt like most of Calgary's pressure and chances came against them, though. They had far more difficulty regaining possession and breaking the forecheck than the other pairs.

He was expecting the pass back for the tap in goal.

Watched the first period and I have to say.... wow. Karlsson was stellar in the first and made some unreal saves to keep it as close as he did. MAG-Ehrhoff didn't drive me nuts, Boyes was again chugging away out there (in a good way), and Roy-Stafford look to be back to where they were to start last season. VAP couldn't buy a goal, but man, all those chances will eventually find twine.

Haven't had a chance to watch the second or third yet -- hockey in a few minutes with the Lad's final practice before his first game tomorrow.
