Damn. Coyotes played a great game. Pretty happy that we fought hard in the 3rd and made a game of it.

Hall and Gagner were both our worst players by far. Turning pucks over all over the ice.

RNH on the other hand rarely ever turns it over. I always thought he was a weak #1 pick and that Hall was going to be our franchise player, but after seeing him play, I think RNH is going to be our best player for the next 15 years.

RNH was great, Paajarvi had a few decent shifts and finally got rid of a couple of 0's, Teubert got his first point and looked solid, Hall, Gagner, and Petry all had rough nights.

Oilers showed good effort in the 3rd and made a game of it after having a pretty crap 1st two periods.

I'm not happy with a loss but the Coyotes outplayed them for 40 minutes and in the 3rd I thought the Oilers played pretty well trying to get back into it. They are going to lose some games and this should be a learning experience... they can still play against a choking defensive team if they put the effort into it based on that 3rd period.

RNH was solid in the 3rd getting that donut breaker and playing well defensively in the game as well.

That third line is really, really bad. Gagner isn't an NHL hockey player right now.

Passes werent good, not many quality shots, not much foot speed.

Dubnyk had a good game despite the score. Bounces were just in the Coyotes favour.

Did it seem like the puck was bouncing everywhere tonight for both teams?

Happy to see Peckham score that goal. Even happier to see RNH score that first goal

Overall Oilers were outworked. Hopefully next game will be better.

Not a wise coaching move to keep Horcoff on the ice for the final 2 minutes. No player has endurance for that.
Yeah Renney relied too heavily on Horc there. Also we could've called a timeout after the puck came out of Phoenix's zone if he wanted Horc to be out there the rest of the game.

Peckham and Teubert were so happy.

Everything else about tonight sucked.

Scott Oake... Did anyone catch his interview with an Oilers mom when she didnt want to mention names and he blurts out "HAHA That was Eberle!". That was spectacular.

How is it nonsensical? We are discussing the game.

We lost, usually that means certain players didn't play well. No harm in talking about it.

I will take a couple positives out of this:

- Paajarvi with a point (finally), Tubes with his first NHL point and an unexpected goal from Peckham.
- Oilers were able to break through the coyote defence after 40 minutes of being completely shutdown
- They didn't play a terrible game, they just didn't find a way into the game until the third.

it was not a horrible game considering it was a loss.

The oilers showed some great pushback as the game wore on. They don't need to be ashamed to lose a game like this...they were outworked at times but nearly pulled off the comeback. It's how they need to play going forward and frankly it was a great learning tool for them. I expect that in future games like this they'll step up sooner and with more vigour.

I've been saving a musical montage for a loss like this. I recommend everyone take a few minutes and soak it in and take a few deep breaths.

there, now that that's over with, I thought the kid line had a good road game despite that 2nd period, but the team as a whole didn't quite have it tonight. Dubnyk needs to be better on his positioning and I personally thought the vet line needed to be a lot better.

Can't win 'em all... and not every player can have a solid game, every game.

It looked like they were skating in quicksand all game.

Oh well, we'll see a better effort next game.

Meh. MPS got his first point. RNH and Ebs got points on the road.

They were stifled defensively, got a taste of their own medicine, but did not give up, young team that adapted to play late in third and battled back as hard as they could. What did surprise was the way Phoenix celebrated, like they just beat the defending cup champs or something.

RNH may be the only great player to come out of that draft.

Hall is trying to do too much. Just simplify.

Eberle needs to stop fanning on so many pucks. Thankfully Hemsky is back next game.

They already used their timeout 30 seconds before.

Glad we got a couple of goals late, encouraging going into the next few games, Paajarvi got a point so hopefully it opens the floodgates.

Maybe teaches the team a lesson to jump on the bad teams quickly. We get a couple of goals early and Phoenix would have folded like a cheap tent. Apparently they are brutal when the other team gets the first goal. We played the game too close to the vest the first two periods. Almost looked like we were playing Minnesota, our ourselves against Washington, tonight.

Can't argue that we should have won, but...

Can't blame Dubie for the loss but he let in two backbreakers tonight. Was way overcommitted and out of position on both.

Can't blame the refs but they kind of let the Yotes pound us and clutch and grab us tonight. And WTF was with the non-call on the Jones crosscheck to the ribs at the end.

They sure didn't let Hall do anything tonight. They saved the biggest blanket for him.

Lander wasn't that great tonight. Made the decision of who to send to OKC easy when Hemsky comes back. He maybe needs to go light up the A a bit.

Phoenix had to bring their absolute best game to beat us and we almost made them crap it away at the end. For me, that's encouraging. We could always be Columbus and at least we got goals as opposed to TO tonight.

When was the last time the Oilers tied a hockey game with the net empty? A freaking decade ago?
