except he manages to do it without flopping down on the ice and getting out of position for the remainder of the play

if Blum, Klein and Cube all get settled in and play to their potential we are gonna be wicked tough to score on..

actually, i was just going to say...he's even having trouble being in the correct position, just like Zanon...but I have more faith that he'll get that corrected than I ever did for Zanon.

Bee tee dubs, if we're in a playoff spot and Minny isn't at the deadline, I'm calling it now-- Poile trades for Zanon. He and Trotz have both cited that as one of the losses they least wanted. I'd imagine both would be thrilled to bring him back for the playoffs, right or wrong.

I hope not. If we add a Defenseman, I hope it's someone with some size.

Another typical rough patch at the beginning of the season has passed. Now back to your regularly scheduled fight for 2nd/3rd in the Division.

The addition of a strong 2nd line centerman that plays well in transition was absolutely gigantic for our teams overall play. Fisher isn't a perfect 2nd line center, but he plays the perfect Nashville game. O'Reilly was simply not capable of doing this. I suspect that had Goc been here, we would have won 1 or 2 of those games where we were registering 12-18 shots per game. It simply cannot be overstated how much we rely on defensive center play with a strong transition game. It is why Legwand's start, thus far, has been quite remarkable.

To all the Legwand haters, many of us have been saying for years that putting him on a line with Smithson and/or trash was detrimental to his offensive stats. Look what happened last year when he was placed on a scoring line in the 2nd half, and now look again at this year's start. Is he a player that elevates the game of those around him? Not quite. Is he a relatively good playmaker with the ability to score if setup by his teammates? I would say yes. Good start for our centerman.

How about the little explosion off the blue line last night by Smith? a puck between the dman's legs and a scoring chance. His ability to create is just crazy.

so where does SK play when he gets back?

do we really want to dump Smith back to the 4th line, or put him on a line with Smithson??

In terms of? I think this thread comes essentially over from the NP.com boards where they had the catch-all "Observations" thread. The purpose of this thread was to prevent 10 threads per day from going up about things that you just want to discuss without starting a new thread.

We're always open to suggestions. Shoot us a PM if you'd like to make a recommendation. Thanks!

I say it's between Smith and Hornqvist for the third line. However, both players need skilled players around them to contribute consistently. Ideally you want both getting lots of time. Tough call.

I know it's unpopular, but I still think that when SK gets back, or whenever we can upgrade the lineup in some way, Geoffrion should go to Milwaukee. His game has stagnated as anything but an energy player, and i'd hate for him to wind up as a third line defensive specialist.

100% agreed. I'd rather have Thang up the Geoffrion. Or bring back Stortini.

Regardless of what becomes of geoffrion when we are healthy we have 7 players who should be on the top two lines. So whoever is odd man out ends up with Smithson, which obviously sucks the offensive life right out of whoever is with him, or else ends up on a line with mcgrattan and only gets 6-8 minutes a night. I suppose its a good problem to have. My guess is since smith seems to be able to create some on his own is that he might do better than most on smithsons line, as long as he minds his defensive responsibilities

I've been calling for Geoffrion to Milwaukee since before the preseason. He needs to develop some more there I think.

Maybe he'll take Erat's spot?

Why don't we establish a third line that can score and play defensively?

SK Fisher Erat
Wilson Legwand Hornqvist
Halishuk Smith Spaling
Tootoo Smithson McGrattan?

More often than not, we have 1 or 2 injured players. I would wager that we have fewer than 15 games this season when we have a completely healthy corp of forwards.

I'd rather see Spaling center that line, but it might be worth trying

You can replace Smith with Spaling and it wouldn't make that big of a deal I don't think.

I would really love to add one more top six forward (something I think Poile could do later in the season) to really make three good scoring lines combined with good defense.

Who Do You Keep?

Apologies if this subject has been beaten to the ground already, but I didn't see a specific thread on this, let alone a poll. Interested in what the majority of Nashville's fan base thinks, and how close it is, and why if you have the time.

Pretty simple. If you can only keep one this offseason, NOT taking into account any potential return in trade on the other, who would it be? Weber or Suter?

That's obviously the preferable option, but there also is a lot of doubt it seems on this board that will happen. Hence the idea, hypothetically, of which one would you rather keep if you could only keep one?

I'm not really interested in what fans that don't watch both game in and game out might think. Posting this question on the main board would skew the poll I think.
