Game #14 - Daylight Savings Edition - Winnipeg Jets at New York Rangers
Daylight Savings Update IS ****ING WITH ME, I CAN BARELY NAVIGATE THE BOARDS!!!
GUMP HASEK STYLE MUSICAL INTERLUDE TIME (BUT HC's CHOICE)
NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER
Fehr is out until mid nov foresure
And if antro didnt play last night he may not end up playing today either.
Awesome gdt per usual HC
Hope we can come away with 2 points in this one!
Just before anyone jumps in saying we are a lock tonight remember the Rangers are 6-3-3 (13th overall) and are at home and relatively healthy so they are the prohibitive favorites playing a banged up 26th place team on the road who is coming off an OT loss last night. We are a feisty bunch and compete well but this could be a tough game.
Hope Pavs has another big game tonight because anything less and this won't go well. If we split these last two games I would be thrilled.
The Jets are now 5-3-2 over their last ten games and 3-1-1 on the road trip. The difference in the standings between the Jets and the NYR is not at all that large; it basically amounts to the Rangers having played one more game at home and their having stolen a game in Winnipeg, mainly due Biron standing on his head.
Hopefully both Stuart and Antropov can both return tonight and take a bit of the pressure off the current jerry-rigged lineup. Some timely goaltending can be the difference maker in a game like this. This is a game the Jets really need; as stated, the Rangers robbed points from our barn and in an ideal world a healthy Jets team would return the favor tonight. The odds may be stacked against them but teams often gel in situations when revenge is in order...
Great GDT and great musical selections, as always. It's like having Loud and The Punk Show back, with knowledgeable hockey fans instead of blathering George Strombolopoulous.
Re: Mannino and Biron listed as the expected starters, any quotes alluding to this? Or just an educated guess...
Complete guess, same with Antro/Stuart/Jones not playing today...but both Pavs and Lundqvist played last night and for the Jets it'd Pavs 3rd in 4 nights...
And I agree with Gump Hasek, I have been really impressed with the team on this road trip...
The best part of that pic on the bottom of the OP is the expression of BUFF's face
I know I say this in every GDT, but if our top players can pick it up and start being our top players we'll be a force to be reckoned with for sure. Still, the rest of the team is playing great and despite playing on back to back nights and with a depleted defence and our third string goalie in, I think we can pick up another road win tonight.
Go Jets Go!

Hopefully they keep it close and make it an ugly game. If it turns in to a track meet, I expect more defensemen getting caught up ice like last night.
Predictions:
-Little and Wheeler both get hat-tricks
-Glass fights Biron, then Torts
-Byfuglien decides he wants to be the backup goalie tonight and sit on the bench
We are tired, weary, injured. 3 games in 4 nights against a healthy Rangers team at home. No idea how Mannino will play, and if Pavs plays, you have to think fatigue will be a factor. Add to that the fact that the 4 players expected to provide a huge chunk of our offense have been mostly invisible...
The good thing is, even if we drop the last 2 games on this trip, we'll end up .500 which I thought would be critical for us as we try and move up the standing.
Not writing off the next 2 games, but trying to be realistic.
Happy that the injuries to Antro, Stuart, Jones, Hainsey and Fehr should be resolved soon. Want to start sitting guys who aren't doing their share.
