Gives room for Loktionov and frees up a lot of cap space for the Kings who get rid of a struggling Penner who doesn't seem to fit on their team. Only on a 1 year contract and Edmonton has a lot of cap space, worth the risk to see if Penner can pick up his game playing with Horcoff and Smyth in a city where he's had success before.
I don't think there is a chance in hell that Edmonton would take Penner back. I was hoping after a good summer of working out that he would be better than last year, but so far he has not done squat.

As an Oilers fan, I was actually hoping the same. Not sure what happened to him as soon as he landed at LAX, but he just does not seem to fit well at all. Tom Gilbert tossed him to the ice the other night...WTF???
Where would Penner play? Hall, Smyth, Paajarvi, and Eager all play LW
I'd take Penner back, he would look good on a line with Smyth-Horcoff, or with Gagner-Hemsky. I like Omark, and would only move him for roster help, but Penner would fit in better IMO. Although i do think there is a chance Tambi and co wouldn't want him back.

Hartikainen-Lander-Brule/Keller/Green, is very good callup depth IMO.
I agree with you but do you think Lombardi would dare risk trading Penner back to the Oilers? Can you imagine if he scored 30 goals by the end of the season.

Yeah i really would be suprised, but Omark is a good player, the trade would be Teubert for Omark, and a rental of Penner for a 1st. Less terrible for Lombardi considering the trade really hasn't worked out so far for LA. I don't think the Smyth trade has anything to do with the value of this deal, although he may not make a deal with us because of it.

What's wrong with adding Penner on a 1 year deal for spare parts? If it doesn't work out just scratch him and insert Eager - don't have to resign him after. Who knows, maybe he comes back and tears it up because he realizes this is where he wants to play.

Some of us do like this deal, don't speak for me. In the very least this is intriguing.
Imo Penner is worth alot more then this spare part offer so kings say no. Penner isnt scoring true but hes doing some things right. I ve watched him over the last few games in particular, He standing up for team mates in scrums( drew and kopitar in particular. He is making a more offerensive plays, I think hes due to come out of it only a matter of time. Im more then willing to wait and so should more kings fans. Also i don't see the kings and oliers making a trade till new management is in either city .Also need to have the league rule on the mullet gate situation It should be coming soon from what has been said.
Tbh even though Dustin Penner hasnt found his scoring touch in LA I would hate to see him go. Maybe confidence has been a struggle for him but I really like how he has been standing up for our teamates.
If the deal went down and actually included Brule I would piss my pants laughing. Maybe this will be Bettman/the NHL's ruling on the previous grievance.
In all honesty, I wouldn't be completely opposed to acquiring Penz if its for a 2nd rder or less.
There is more to this game then just scoring.
