Gotcha sounds good.

I wonder if in a few years we can have a core of:

Barstchi-Backlund-Iginla(if we haven't traded him)
XXX-Reinhart/Horak-XXX
XXX-Horak.Reinhart-XXX

I would hope our next two first rounders are Top 6 forwards....plus whoever can develop and make it of; Howse, Wahl, Nemisz, Gaudreau, Granlund, Ferland, Holland, etc.

Also, since I am looking 3-5 years down the road...you have to wonder if they've got anything for the Glencrosses, Bourques, etc of the world..

Could possibly face the Wild at home.

Backlund is about another week away from being ready while it's anyone's guess when Carson might be ready.

From reading different reports, it sounds as though he could be returning from any where between 7-14 days. At least its getting close.

I see the lineup like this, at least for the first 3 games.

Tangs Jokinen Iggy
Stempniak Horak Glencross
Moss Backlund Bourque
Kosto Stajan Jackman
Hagman/BMO (13th forward/healthy scratch)

A trade is coming!

I second this, at least for the first few games.

I actually think the line of Kosto, Stajan and Jackman has been quite good as our 4th line. I think Stajan has been more effective in his role than Morrison has in his.

Hopefully Hagman but I have a feeling this team will send the first 2 way contract down to keep all their players to remain "competitive".

Stajan at least has speed.

Glencross - Jokinen - Iginla
Tanguay - Horak - Bourque
Stempniak - Backlund - Moss
Hagman/Kost - Stajan - Jackman

I think Backlund will get 3rd line minutes at least for a few games until he finds his legs. Then I think he will get placed on the top line once he gets going.

I actually believe that Backlund's upside is:

20-50-70

That's a pretty darn good player. Not that he will produce at that clip this year, but I could see that withen 18-24 months.

Considering I think Bartschi is significantly better offensively....or alteast that Bartschi is easily the superior offensive player(interms of projecting his game to the pro level) ....I love these two to build around...

People forget how hard it is to even achieve 70 pts these days. Guys like Thornton and Marleau only hit around 70 last year while guys like Richards and Carter hit around the 66 pts.

Is it just me, or when anyone else looks at our line combo's do you not wish we had ONE good young winger to throw on a line with Backlund or Horak? That is something this team is lacking this season.

I would of liked to see the Flames at least take a shot on a guy like Brett Maclean, we just didn't have a spot for him.

A little, but at the same time it's probably better for their development if you've only got one really young guy per line, especially in the case of rookies (Horak) or guys who need their confidence to be built up (Backlund). If you have too many guys finding their way on the ice at the same time they can have serious growing pains.

It was never said but I bet it was Stajan to gain a roster spot. Their just protecting his neck.
