Pre-Fight On Fuel TV:

Saturday’s coverage begins on Fuel TV at 5.30pm Eastern Time with a re-aring of the weigh-ins followed by a repeat of the hour-long ‘UFC Primetime: Velasquez Vs Dos Santos’ special which first aired on FOX this past Sunday afternoon.

Then comes the original programming as a ‘UFC On Fuel TV: Pre-Fight Special’ delivers a two hour pre-fight build-up from 7-9pm ET hosted by Jay Glazer with UFC fighter Kenny Florian on analyst duties while Stephan Bonnar reports from backstage.

The pre-fight show will also feature a special ‘Champions Roundtable’ with Jon Jones, Chuck Liddell, Frank Mir and Forrest Griffin all weighing on the night’s big fight, and if that’s not enough Fuel TV’s own Nicole Dabeau will be interviewing the stars getting the red carpet treatment for the fight.
Quote:
The Fight on FOX:

At 9pm ET it’s time to switch over to FOX as the fight approaches. The hour long show will be hosted by FOX Sport’s Curt Menefee who will be joined by UFC president Dana White to help set the scene.

Former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar also sits in as an analyst while Joe Rogan will get last minute backstage interviews with both Velasquez and Dos Santos.

Then it’s on the fight itself and as usual the regular commentary team of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan will call the action from Octagon-side.

I wonder if Clay Guida doesn't shower for a month prior to a fight

You jest but this is actually something that several fighters (most notably Matt Lindland) have been accused of doing.

I really wish they would've moved the Henderson/Guida fight to the San Jose card, it seems ridiculous to have such an important fight (presumably the next title-shot comes from this fight) in the dark. I'm hoping Sportsnet, in Canada, picks it up, I think its airing on an obscure Fox channel.

It's already hard to promote the 155 division (evident by Frankie's PPV buys), the majority of the public probably will still have no idea who Henderson, the next challenger, is by that time. It seems like something that got lost in the commotion of the big debut.

The fox portion is airing on Sportsnet. They are already advertising it. Whether that fight makes it onto that broadcast or not, I think it may, as Im not sure how long the main event will last. Sounds like most of the hour will be filled with assorted interviews and other nonsense though. They should have that fight on real tv, although they may want to protect the masses from Jacksonitis, which is more powerful than halcyon.

Damn, Aaron Rosa is cutting all the way down to LHW? Dude got REALLY soft lately. He used to be kind of ripped. Then he just got fat.

You have to think of the live crowd, though. The card desperately needed another high-end fight so Ben/Guida made perfect sense.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I really wish the UFC would integrate an NFL/Sportscenter style highlight package for all of the earlier fights that happen before the PPV. This event on Fox, with tons of exciting prelim card action, would be perfect place to start.

I agree completely. I think they just needed a fight to justify 40-350 dollar tickets. That's already a bit of a dip from normal PPV cards (50-400), and they apparently didn't want to drop it much further so they gave the fans in the seats a good reason to buy tickets.

I can't freaking wait for this fight. I've never been more excited for a fight. And or course I have hockey tickets on the 12th. I'm so paranoid about missing the fight that I'll be hooking up my computer to a VCR and recording the entire FB card, just in case leaving the window open doesn't allow me to go back and watch the fights online like usual.

That's a solid idea, though it would hamper airing prelims during the main PPV card when fights run short. I think it'd be something that would be better for airing after the main event.

Hoping the KO for Henderson. I despise Guida with a passion, every fight he comes out like he's going for war and every fight ends up fitchfastic for him. Henderson is the next lightweight champ imo.

Speaking of Henderson, what the heck is going on Miller? We haven't had any news of him in quite a while now.

Yea, I hope Henderson annihilates him. Guida bounces round and...that's about it. Then he shoots for a takedown and smothers. I hate him.

Something tells me to pick Garza, but Im going to ignore it. Same thing with Lamas over Swanson. Dont even want to make a pick on the Caceres vs Escovedo fight. They both suck.

Ive been riding the Dos Santos train ever since he made Werdum's neck fat wiggle. Im not hopping off now. That said the smart pick would be Cain imo. He is just so good on the ground and I dont think JDS will be able to stop his takedowns.

Im probably going to have to miss this event as I have obligations on Saturday. I will pvr the main event as I believe it is being shown on Sportsnet in Canada. Does anyone know if there is anyway to watch the facebook fights after the fact?

There is also a wicked Bellator card on Saturday night. I would encourage anyone to pvr that as well. It is on theScore in Canada. I think it might be on MTV2 or something like that in the States.

I don't know if you'll be able to watch them right away...they'll be available on ufc.ca eventually (you can, as of 07/11/11 watch up to the UFC 137 prelims).

I don't have to work on the sunday after this event...I am totally celebrating this card, if you know what I mean.

anyways, my picks;

Main card:
Heavyweight Championship bout: Cain Velasquez (c) vs. Junior Dos Santos

Preliminary card (Facebook and FoxSports.com):
Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Benson Henderson
Featherweight bout: Dustin Poirier vs. Pablo Garza
Featherweight bout: Cub Swanson vs. Ricardo Lamas

Bantamweight bout: Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama
Featherweight bout: Mackens Semerzier vs. Robert Peralta
Bantamweight bout: Alex Caceres vs. Cole Escovedo
Middleweight bout: Mike Pierce vs. Paul Bradley
Light Heavyweight bout: Aaron Rosa vs. Matt Lucas

I can't pick against the champ...after watching him decimate Brock Lesnar I have to err on the side of caution on that one, but I'm a huge fan of JDS' speed and power. Overall I think it's a pretty even matchup that might boil down to Velasquez's wrestling.

I have a feeling that henderson will counter Guida completely and while a close affair Guida falls short of his best chance at a title shot.

Otherwise I really like this card, although like IATL I don't understand why they keep giving Caceres so much rope other than his TUF appearance. He needs some time in some secondary promotions to polish his skills. Continuing to drop weight classes isn't going to help his fortunes any.

There's only one 'main' card fight that will be televised on Fox. From the description in the first post, it seems like the broadcast will start and they'll hype up the fight for 10-15 minutes, followed by the main event. If it ends before the hour is up, they'll probably show some of the prelim fights.

I was on the fence about going, but it looks like I'll be attending the fights live.

I think they said Cain/JDS will be the only fight. Doesn't matter how long it lasts.

They will have a pre-fight special with Curt Menefee hosting and Dana, Rogan, Lesnar, and Overeem as the "analysts". They're also going to interview Cain and JDS backstage as they are getting ready. Then they're going to show the fight and if it ends quickly I guess they will have post-fight coverage.
