Concern about Lundqvist

Anyone else notice a slight decline in Henrik's game since leaving the ice in Edmonton. He does not seem like the same goaltender from the first few games where he was the Rangers best player. He has reverted to allowing some "soft" goals in the past few games and even took a penalty which is the opposite of his style. Thankfully our offense and defense have raised their game and Marty has been amazing. Thoughts?

The part about the penalty has me baffled.

It happened last year. Marty was on fire early and Hank was struggling for a while. Obviously, we know Hank turned it around last year. It was a blessing knowing Hank got some rest before Marty went down.

Hank has been fine, just not as good as early on when he was amazing. He'll be fine. The team is good in front if him, and are picking him up when earlier they were being picked up by him.

Lundqvist was in God mode earlier this season. It's a simple reversion to the mean.

maybe the new skates are an issue ? (why he left the game)

I have noticed he seems to be playing a lot deeper in net compared to the earlier games. Could just be perception though

Well this is my first post because I just activated my account and wanted to get peoples thoughts on this. I agree that his style has been different the last few games but hopefully it is just a perception and he will come out like a beast tomorrow. As for the username Graves is and always will be my favorite Ranger. Just the fact that he still hangs around after games to meet the fans makes him a class act, as well as the current team too. LGR

1 - the penalty was a crazy call, and absolutely bs

2 - He's fine. Players always go through hot and cold streaks. And Hank always seems to let in softies here and there, nothing new.

Thanksgiving is coming. Nothing new. Same every year. Torts should sit Lundqvist in favor of Marty, but he most probably wont fearing retributions.

Guys, lets try and welcome new people onto this board, not call them trolls. If you disagree with a thread topic voice your opinion and if you have a problem with a certain poster PM a Mod and we will look into it.

Calling someone a "troll" just because they are new accomplishes nothing except drive people away from growing into a valued poster on these boards.

The guy who started the thread isnt chastising Hank or referring to "hot and cold streaks" - he brought up the issue that Lundqvist's play has been on the decline since he left the Edmonton game with the foot issue.

And quite frankly, its true.

I think Hank, like any athlete, is better when he's fresh and not overworked. That's why I'm loving the fact that Marty Biron is on pace to play 25 games.

Yes I love the fact that our backup is reliable and Marty has been on fire. Will give Henrik the time he needs to bring that early season form to the crunchtime at the end of the season and especially the playoffs.

Henrik - you are still the King. No concern whatsoever.

Lundqvist is a proven elite goaltender. There is no need for concern.

It seems like Henrik always has had a bunch of bad games strung together around this time the past 2-3 years and he has always snapped out of it.

Except that he hasn't even had a single game that I would consider "bad" yet. He has been bouncing between incredible and average.

He wasn't exactly fantastic against the Leafs or Sens...and that first goal he allowed in the Canadiens game was stoppable, I was surprised at the rebound he gave up on that.

That being said, I'm not too worried. He's still Lundqvist, and, if worst comes to worst, Biron is a great stopgap for any Lundqvist slumps.

If it walks and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. In other words, Hank has been letting in soft goals his whole career as a Ranger, especially at the garden. I'm sure he'll pick it up in the next few games.

I've always thought of Hank as one of the better goalies in the league.

The soft goals is why I never considered him the best.

Speaking of "ducks", I thought he played fairly well against Anaheim last Thursday.
