I'd rather win now than save up to win later.

They showed it during the Columbus game. Our win % was actually slightly higher w/o Pronger IIRC.

Claude Giroux skated 13:49 in Saturday's blowout victory. Jay Voracek and Max Talbot led Flyers forwards in TOI.

I agree he has been great, but it's an overpay if he is going to be on the 4th line most of his time here. They also might have been expecting him to center the 4th line much of his time here considering he was signed for 5 years and the top 9 is full.

It's not his fault that he isn't actually a center.

I'm not blaming him. I have no problems with the player. It's the contract that I don't think is very good.

I think Talbot's been great, esp. the last couple weeks as the penalty parade has diminished a bit and he gets to play at ES sometimes.

His contract is fine. He's only 27, we get to keep him as a key checker/leader at a reasonable price. And there were a lot of teams trying to get him too.

Would you be happier if he was in Toronto, which was one of the teams?

Don't know if this was answered elsewhere, but why was Timonen gone for the last half of the game and no on mentioned it?

He only played 11:13

Was he hurt blocking a shot or did they just shut him down?

Never saw it in any of the media coverage, you'd think it would be significant, non?

It was mentioned he left the game, but he's fine. They just shut him down.

Speaking of Lavy's ways...not sure how this will work out. Taking care of the puck means controlling it and winning faceoffs..right? Well since they haven't done very well most of the season and we haven't been good for a few years now....it will be interesting to see if Tampa controls the puck more by winning faceoffs and if our positional play without the puck isn't erratic....if Prongs plays that should settle things down though. However, Coburn, Carle and Mesz will have to be better with the puck too..and not treat it like a grenade.

Quote:
Peter Laviolette said that a lot of the discussion heading into Tampa has focused on decision-making with the puck, putting it into safe areas when there is not a play to be made. He said that although he was happy with the Flyers' offensive output in most of their games against Tampa last year, they need to take better care of the puck to prevent Tampa's skill players from running wild the way they did last season.

I guess you mean Betts and Powe? I don't miss them one bit. Explain to me again how these two guys being gone has somehow increased Timonen's ice time? See I would have thought that was because of Pronger's injury...

Richards and Carter....then there's Betts and Powe, too.
