Decent trade. And of course Howson would say this isn't a pre-cursor, like he'll go "yeah im talking to *insert team name here* about *player name*"
i get that...but why not just "No Comment" it...you already have a fan base ready to revolt...for him to come out and say its not a precursor just angers this fan more...i guess semantics (apparently my word of the day) but just doesn't make sense...ohwell

Agreed. I even would have preferred the cliche 'Nothing's imminent but we're always trying to improve the team'.
His comment, which essentially comes across as 'what the hell, I like this player even though we don't need him - you can never have too many centers' makes him sound like an idiot.

Pretty good deal for you guys if the Mark Letestu of last season shows up.
He was thriving in a 3rd line center role last season, but then Crosby and Malkin went down and his role became too much for him to handle. I think he's struggled with confidence ever since then. He's a smart player with a heavy shot and a very quick release. He's also right-handed and wins faceoffs at a good rate. He's more of an offensive minded bottom 6 center. Not really a checker that can shutdown anybody.
I guess this is a good deal? Not really sure what to make of it. Arent we supposed to be Failing for Nail . Obviously, this makes us a playoff team. Sign Arniel to a 10 year contract.
Solid pickup. I watched Letestu a fair amount last year. As far as I'm concerned, pencil him and D-Mac in on the bottom 6 going forward with Johansen and Carter in the top 6. Get rid of the rest.

Mostly agree, but I'd hesitate to put that much on Johansen at this point myself. My feeling is this might point to Vermette getting dealt. Anton plus ? as a package?
Nice player, is best with a couple speedy/gritty wingers imo. Plays hard and has offensive upside. Glad he went somewhere I'll watch on a regular basis, I like TestTube.

Excellent post - as both a Jackets and Penguins fan, I couldn't agree more.

To me, this definitely looks like a precurser to another deal. Adios, Derick Brassard.
Pens fan here. Good luck to Test Tube aka The Hobbit going over to you guys.
He's fairly average at each of his skills. He has average or below average speed, which is probably his worst asset and isn't physical. His best asset is he's smart and plays a solid fundamental game. He has a good shot.
Last year he was money for a few months. His injury really derailed his play and it seems like he came back and was a step slower, including this year too.
If he can get back to playing like he did last year before the injury, you got a good player with some potential. Worst case scenario, you have a smart RH 3C/4C tweener.
He was a favorite of Bylsma. Just no room for him on the Pens. Speculation is this means Sid will likely be back soon. I think Richard Park took Letestu's job more or less with his solid play. Just a numbers game at the end.
I'm in line with the thought that this move is to set the table for later in the season when Pahlsson, Vermette and Brassard are shopped. Howson may be technically telling the truth in saying that this move is not a precursor to another trade in the near future, but this move will allow the Jackets to move any of the other three centers mentioned above for a decent pick or a player who can help them on the back end.

What are we supposed to do with the 47 centers we have on 1-way deals in the mean time?
Ya know, I'm gone all day and I come home to find you guys took your eyes off the check book AGAIN and Howson has been shopping AGAIN!!! Who was in charge of watching him today???
Why is this man allowed to continue making choices????
