This.

I am sick to death of seeing Belanger on the PP. Or playing with offensive players. He's a great checking C but he's killing every play in the offensive zone he's involved in. I like Lander, I think he's done nothing to deserve getting sent down, but he needs to go get some 1st line + PP time in the A and get his offensive game going. That opens up the 4th line spot for Belanger.

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Paajarvi - Gagner - Hemsky
Smyth - Horcoff - Jones
Eager - Belanger - Petrell
These lines are what I'm pushing, but I always wince seeing Lander out of the line-up.

Obviously it doesn't hurt throwing him into the minors, but he's excelling at this level.

The only way I see him up is sending down either Eager and Petrell, and having Lander center a line. It's always ugly though.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Horcoff-Hemsky
PRV-Lander-Gagner
Eager/Petrell-Belanger-Jones

Or switch Belanger and Lander.

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Horcoff-Hemsky
PRV-Belanger-Gagner
Eager/Petrell-Lander-Jones

Only way I see him still up. It stinks.

Not to sound frustrated because I'm really not but it's time somebody else take the draws on the Hall-eberle-NH line. RNH has had his chance. Keep him at center but let Eberle or Hall take the draws from now on.

I know Calgary used to do this with Iginla. It's a little bit different because Iginla is actually good at faceoffs and those two aren't but still.

That was more a result of a stupid play by Eager than a poor line change. If he dumped the puck in like he should have, there wouldn't have been a penalty.

we alll knew the kid line was going to struggle on the road against the big matchups, but I think it's an excellent sign that they're working their way back into road games pretty much every night...as the game wears on they start to take over and generate chances.

With the skill and will they have they will eventually come together and play a better, more consistent road game. I don't think it's an issue of "getting them going" because most of these road games so far it's not a lack of effort, just difficulty in execution.

...not to mention that, other than maybe Hemsky, there's no one in the lineup that can keep up with them enough to actually have a positive impact, and I prefer having a real strong veteran line like the smyth-horcoff-hemsky line keeping the matchups honest and forcing the opposition to make a difficult choice.

He's been averaging around 33 percent over his last few games. It's just weird that you chose this game to bring anything up, haha.

He's just a rookie. Keeping him at centre will do a lot more help than anything else.

Khabibulin is putting up historic numbers right now.

Literally.

I think he has the lowest GAA through the first 10-ish games of the season in like 50 years.

I don't recall Petry getting beat wide at all. His gap control and stick checking is by far the best on the team.

Huge congratulations to the Oilers, great start of the season, impressive.

I wrote some posts on HF last year predicting the Oilers success, staying positive (unlike many others), I was right as always. ;-)

From a Swedish point of view, well.... *cough* ;-) Hopefully Omarks gets traded to another NHL team, finally reaching his potential and MPS improving for the Oilers.

I'm happy Lander is doing well so far, I really like his play and hard working attitude and one thing is for sure, he will become so much better. What we see now is Lander adjusting to the NHL.

Landeskog and Lander, future backbone, Captain and assistant Captain of the Swedish Olympic gold winning team, another prediction. ;-)

Not tonight, but he looked like a pylon a couple of games ago. He still needs to work on his lateral movement and his acceleration skating backwards a bit IMO. His stick checking is very good though, no questioning that. I also like that he's been our best puck rushing D when the opposing team's defense doesn't give us much in the neutral zone.

For those who are saying Petry was bad tonight, please check out the Fenwick/Corsi ratings from tonight. I would argue that the Petry/Peckham pairing was the best tonight, they limited their mistakes. I also believe that Petry's puck moving skills enhanced Peckhams skills, and made him a more effective defenseman.

Still a fan of Petry, but he had 2 or 3 bad passes (near turnovers?) in his own zone that could have lead to goals against. And I recall him making a lateral pass into the skates Belanger or Gagner in the o-zone that lead to a counter-attack. I'd still play him over Peckham, Sutton, Barker. I'd also liked to see him use his shot more!

or

Paajarvi-Gagner-Omark
Smyth-Horcoff-Hemsky

That way we'd have 3 legitimate scoring lines.
Are you kidding me ?

What does Jones have to do to get some love on this board ?
He gets bumped down in favor of Hemsky and responds by scoring a shortie (totally against the flow of play).
He is rewarded for a solid game (more yeoman PK work) with the second star of the night and people come on here and call him a "plug" and suggest sending him down .... in order to make room for Magnus . Unreal .

Petry made some bad plays, but he made some really good ones to. There was a shift (in the second?) where he held the line two or three times with a really good pinch and it led to pressure. Made a couple nice breakout passes too.

I'll take the occasional turnover. The best puckmovers ALWAYS lead the league in turnovers.

Nice win, but as long as we're quoting lines:
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Gagner-Hemsky
Jones-Horc-Belanger (yes, i realize he's a center, but he can play anywhere)
MPS-Lander-Petrell/Eager/Hordi

Gotta do something aobut the PP arrangements too. With the kids, Gags, Smyth, Hemsky, I don't see much need for Belanger on the PP.

Ok I'm officially never taking off my jersey on gamedays again. Took it off 3 times this year all 3 games we lost.

I think I'll just staple it to myself from now on lol

The Fenwick/Corsi ratings?

Yes, I watched the game, and I saw every minute, but let me check Fenwick/Corsi ratings and then I can give you an informed opinion!

I remember a time when Corsi, RelCorsi and AdjRelCorsi were good enough in this town........

Now everything is Fenwick/Corsi this and Fenwick/Corsi that.

Pfffffft.
