Quotes from Erik Gustafsson
"It's a ligament injury in my hand, I don't really know what the doctor called it in English."
"I will stay behind here to rest while team is in Florida. I'll meet w/ doctor (today) & see if it needs surgery or it can be avoided."

Afleet Alex is lingering in the back of the pack.
Jeremy Rose has yet to make a move on him and he's running unstrongly.
Giacomo leads but...
Afleet Alex just ran right by Giacomo like he was standing still.
Afleet Alex is opening up with a tremendous burst of energy. He's five lengths in the lead.
A compelling outstanding performance by the plucky Afleet Alex. He won by six or seven lengths.

Too bad. We better hope Pronger is ready, or we might have to try our luck with Walker on reentry, or give someone like Marshall a shot.

I think in this case Walker wouldnt have to go through re-entry waivers because his call-up would be classified as "emergency" if Pronger isn't ready to go ether
I may be wrong, but I do know some call-ups are on an emergency basis, but I don't know what deems them so

Could we get away with that? Even though we have a few other d's with the Phantoms to call up as well? I mean, most of the time you call someone up it is due to an injury. Would be a pretty big loophole in the cba, if you ask me. Though my knowledge of the cba is somewhat lacking, you might say.

well that sucks for him. Hope it isnt serious enough for surgery.
In worse news that might mean Matt Walker gets put on re-entry waivers.

That sucks. He's looked pretty good for a rookie these past few games. I really hope when he gets healthy again they keep him around the big club.

I agree. It's not like the Flyers don't have other options.

Well if he decides against the surgery..I'm sure supporters will attribute any bad games he may have solely to his hand injury.

What sucks is our prospect depth at D...always has because we are impatient and don't develop properly. During the Hitchcock years b/c of his emphasis on vets we bled the few prospect D men we had. I always liked Seidenberg for one.
Couple this with our lousy signings of 6 & 7 depth d-men like Walker and Lilja it's pretty frustrating. We should have kept OD...

I'm sure others will say injuries are no excuse for a drop in play. Such is the way of things.

Sucks. He has been easily better than Lilja has. Thought he had a shot at taking over the #6 spot. Now being hurt diminished his chances greatly. Wont be surprised if he gets sent back down in the next week or so depending on kind of injury.

Holmgren and Snider are indeed "haters"..they hate not growing as a team and inconsistency....

If they hate inconsistency, they must REALLY hate this current team.
