I do not hate Butler, he just doesn't look like the same player that was here last year.
First point is fair, but this season Butler has looked just as good as Filatov or better. Butler is waiver eligible while Filatov is waiver exempt. You keep penciling Filatov into the lineup, yet he doesn't deserve to be. Yes his potential is higher, so he should be in Bingo working on his game.

I definitely don't agree. Butler has been far worse than Filatov.
Filatov has been hustling and his lack of success can't be attributed to lack of effort, Butler is clearly out of shape and not mentally there: he can't receive or make a pass to save his life right now (his assist last night was fortuitous to say the least) and his man-on-man coverage is as sloppy as can be.
He probably needs some time off to recharge and get in shape and then spend some time in the AHL. We all know he can be good at the NHL level, but not right now.

Butler has created more offensively than Filatov IMO. Filatov has been pretty much invisible everytime he's played.

which is to no surprise given the fact that he's only seen about 6-8 minutes a game so far, while Butler has been given a free pass to the second line.

Shanny says it best. I'd also say that Butler has been worse than invisible: he's been a detriment to the team.

Apparently, according to CapGeek, Butler is waiver exempt.

Wrong and wrong and somewhat right. Butler has played more, and played even more terribly. He is also waiver exempt. Both him and Filatov deserve AHL time right now.
